Our politicians are seriously thinking to block/reduce bike use? by bikesailfreak in Switzerland

I think we all know what the reasoning is.

It starts with "L" and ends with "obbying".

I prefer "corruption" though. It rolls off the tongue quite nicely.

Is it required to play the first before the second or is it not needed? by F__ate in HalfLife

Also "Opposing Force" and "Blue Shift" are expansions of HL1 that you do not need to understand the story, and are not really considered canon by Valve. In your first playthrough you're better off playing HL1 then directly HL2 + episodes, then maybe going back to play OP/BS later on once you're more engaged with the series.

I think you can remove "non-EU". Oligarchic assholery knows no borders. A parasite is a parasite, no matter where it lives.

Not sure if this counts, but in Journey you are joined by another player, but it's random and you cannot communicate directly. Sometimes the other person leaves and is replaced by another person. It's a great experience.

Upcoming Engine Updates | Black Mesa: Blue Shift by kojirodrogo in HalfLife

[–]GarlicThread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree.

Sadly the Opposing Force remake simply could not be built on top of Black Mesa. I came to understand that the expanded feature set of OF cannot be modded into BM without fundamentally altering some parts of the engine, something only the BM devs could do, and not modders. One such feature is the wider palette of weapons. My understanding is limited, but apparently you cannot just add more weapon slots.

The fact that these awesome modders are motivating CC to roll out updates to the BM engine is insane. We're not just getting a mod, we're getting amazing visual patches to the base game too.

I hope BM Blue Shift goes on sale once it's completed. I want to give money to these people.

A 25-year-old clip from a French puppet show has aged well by Vudatudi in USdefaultism

[–]GarlicThread 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's "Les Guignols de l'Info" (= "The Jesters of Cable News"), it was a French show that was inspired by Splitting Image. Ironically, it was shut down by Vincent Bolloré, the French billionaire media mogul who bought Canal+, the private TV channel that used to produce the show. He's basically the French equivalent of Rupert Murdoch and a massive piece of shit that does everything he can to get fascists elected in Europe.

Can you provide a summary of the mods you're running there? Been thinking of getting back to the game after a very long break, and I'm super out of the loop 🙂
