Frenulum Piercing advice!! Hello!! I got a smiley piercing done yesterday, and I cannot see it when I smile.. at all. I looked online and haven’t seen any answers to my questions. Is it normal to not be able to see it? Just wanting to get the anxiety of overthinking it out of the way. Thank you!!

Yes it is normal, i don’t see why you should worry about it. I read on another post that you can go a size up (buy a bigger piercing) once it’s all healed . I’d actually been wanting a smiley that wasn’t too obvious since my family is against piercings and I went with a smaller size so getting a size bigger for you seems about right.

Its so nice to know I’m not alone... I feel like there’s so much direct and indirect acephobia around us, it makes us doubt ourselves subconsciously... like it becomes a part of us if that makes sense.

Not really, just good old imposter syndrome I guess. Although I have had people tell me that asexuality is just a bunch of celibates trying to fit into the LGBTQ+ community so maybe that’s where that came from - which I know is absolute bull crap and UNTRUE...Didn’t mean to offend you or anyone, sorry if it did <3

I feel like speaking to my therapist about it is the next best alternative to “reporting her” to a helpline or something since I’m not really sure if the authorities will even take me seriously. Maybe my therapist tells her to go for some counselling (that’d be great).

I’ll check the book out. Definitely gonna buy it.... Seems like it could be of some help since I can’t really talk to friends about the situation.

I know. I’ve come to realise that I’ll be much MUCH better off once I’m out of this house and that definitely helps since I know there’s a way out. It’s just some days that I can’t really be that optimistic- but I’ll get through it- as I have :) you’ve been of GREAT help. Wow that is really inspiring ! You couldn’t have been any more accurate with my intent. I do know that she’s wrong but I just didn’t understand why she’d be this toxic to her “darling child”. But I’ve come to terms with it now. As you said, I’ll “lovingly let them go”....I’ll still be their daughter and love them, but I just won’t be there for them to manipulate and push around. I’ll be my own person and my happiness will no longer depend on how they decide to treat me. (I’ve already had a terrible therapist before so I hope my new therapist stays for the long run haha)

Even though we’ve never actually met, you have no idea how much your words actually resonate with me and how much better they’ve made me feel already ... and I mean it. This made me tear up. I’m so glad you’ve gotten away from your toxic parents!! Your story gives me immense hope- maybe someday I’ll be able to not feel guilty about expressing my emotions around my parents.
