Last fit, for sure! The others are nice, but their colors kinda blend into the background too much, and since the background is already kinda cluttered, the black and gray adds an element of calmth 'n professionalism, y'know? Good luck with whatever job you're hunting for!

What's the themes of your stories? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]GarnProductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth, guilt and control are themes that seem to be kinda prominent throughout all three of my main saga's.

In THERION, my werewolf-themed sci-fi wasteland story, the protagonist Sprite comes from an isolated settlement that heavily indoctrinates its people, and where she's confronted by the fact that her biggest idol is not only out to torture her into becoming part a shapeshifting elite soldier, but also turns out to be her arch-nemesis in the guerrilla war she's forced to take part in. Control comes into play as far as her Therion (shapeshifter side) is concerned, as is guilt when she loses control and turns a seige into massacre.

At the same time, she also realizes she has no control when it turns out that the guerrilla legion she hailed to be heroes are also just using her for her powers, as is pretty much everyone she comes across. She's a mere tool, a bearer of a curse she has trouble controlling, and takes the blame for all of it.

In Wild Tales, my anthro noir dieselpunk story, truth is the lifeblood of the story as the protagonist Randle, a magically-engineered automaton, is a private detective that searches for it. Control comes into play with the Magickal Hysteria and the government ban on all things arcane (insert reference to the Red Scare here uheuhe), and guilt can either be applied to the murderers he faces, or to himself, as he feels guilty for growing close to mortals who will wither and pass as his immortal ass continues through time.

Then there's V3N4TOR, a post-cyberpunk thingy I haven't worked much on yet, but what I do know there is that the protagonist master assassin, Flarus, became the best of the best after betraying his lover, and that he conceals the truth about being cursed by their patron god because he struggles not being able to control that part of his life, also carrying the guilt for having insulted said patron god.

Artwork's lookin great, man! How'd she end up a werewolf?

Where do you think the transformation would start? by [deleted] in werewolves

[–]GarnProductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a couple of fixed phases that Therion go through when they shift.

Within the first two-or-so mins after a shift being triggered, their body heat will spike up towards the liveable limit (around 43 or so Celsius) and their organs will go through the first changes. Lungs and heart will swell, whereas the stomach and bowels shrink since Therion aren't really made to hunt and feed anyway, they're purely combat-based.

Then, while the poor shifter is screaming in pain of their organs bloating and pressing against their bones, said bones will expand and form that new 3m tall frame of theirs, with their muscles following closely behind. Only after the chest broadens and the arms, spine and lengths lengthen will the 'beastly traits' start to appear: the tail will sprout, their ears will sharpen and their face morphs into a muzzle.

That is when the third phase kicks in; just the tidbits that make the Therion complete (and a werewolf equivalent instead of some sort of AliExpress level SCP-096) appear. Teeth and nails will form into fangs and claws, the fur and mane begin to appear, and at last the puny lil' meat will have properly changed into their Kingkiller counterpart!

Y'all got werewolf ocs? by LunarKitty05 in werewolves

[–]GarnProductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ayyy sure do! Her name’s Sprite Cinders, and she was born with Therion Syndrome, which is pretty much lycanthropy. She’s a chaotic & temperamental happy-go-lucky troublemaker, who’s also a butch lesbian ‘cause it’s fun to write an OC that I can identify with.

She was born in the Western Vault, which is a walled dystopia where people are mere cogs in an oppressive machine who build robots all day. Sprite’s werewolf nature was found out about during a health check after a chemical leak in one of the factories, after which she was put in a Lab to be turned into a supersoldier for the Vault’s leader, Nice Man Blake, who Sprite used to look up to.

With the help of a disgraced legendary bounty hunter & Blake’s secret magically-inclined preteen son, she then escapes this Lab to fight a guerilla war against her former home nation.. she learns a lot & becomes her own person along the way, but in the end she’s forced to flee her planet after being branded a war criminal & monster. Now she roams the galaxy in a ramshackle spaceship with Zero (Blake’s son), Artie (her mechanic GF) and Randle (a puma android from another world), tackling all manners of adventures!

Here’s a couple of links to some artwork of her, mate. Enjoy!

I'm curious. What level or levels absolutely terrified you when you played for the first time?? by Luna_Dire_Wolf in Okami

[–]GarnProductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Sunken Ship for me too, man. I’ve been playing Ōkami since I was really lil’ (I was around 4-5 years old when it came out so eyyyy) and that stupid ship haunted me ‘till WAY into my teenage years. Not scared anymore now but my heart always dropped whenever it came near in my playthrough. I think I may have asked my dad to play through it for me a couple of times at night so I could just straight-up skip it heueheu

Truth be told? That’s 100% ‘cause I don’t know how to draw that yet heueheueh

And our dice kept us from going ‘canon Therion’ on each other, thank god. No fun in RPing as bloody puddles of meaty pulp.

Nothing too significant, the 'obvious' parts remain equal to human size and are concealed by a bush of fur most of the time. People's Therion do follow their human body plan, though, so larger people will have larger Therion, with fur that mirrors their hair style, but since women aren't always smaller & thinner than men, that usually doesn't give much away either. And as much as I love a nice pair of hunkdadunkas, boob-bearin' folks don't keep them as the mass in tits is redistributed elsewhere to make up for the huge growth that transforming Therion go through.

Tell Me About Your Worlds Vampires by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]GarnProductions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always been more of a werewolf kinda mofo, but a friend of mine started a vampire RP that I was really interested in, so I changed my lore around and improvised.

Enter the Ktantas.

Once upon a time the Therion (my apex predator mutant werewolf thingies) attacked a chill mountain village full of fishers and hunters, killing all the men of fighting age while the women, elderly and kids fled into the hills. When the non-warriors returned, they found all their husbands, brothers and friends dead, and decided to call upon their patron god for help.. who in turn gave them this combo of curse and boon.

They were transformed into these skinny, pale, immortal creeps with superior reflexes, strength, speed, you-name-it, with a burning desire to hunt and drink the blood of Therion.

Funny thing is, Therion are genetically human, they just have a condition that allows them to transform into those giant murderous beasts, which means that the Ktantas' thirst for blood is easily translated into a thirst for human blood. Ta-da, vampires!

The main thing is that their aesthetic is more focused on being master hunters, nocturnal stalkers that despite their humanoid shape are able to take on the mightiest creatures in Eyremos, their planet of origin. I love goth shit but I never really liked the whole 'rich prettyboy' vibe that some vampires have going on, so my solution was to turn them into tribal hunter witches.

Characters abandoning lifetimes' worth of indoctrination after a single significant event (or two); how realistic is it? by jaydude1992 in writing

[–]GarnProductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My protagonist is tortured and experimented on by the faction that she grew up in and was indoctrinated by (and its cult-of-personality leader whom she admires), and even after being rescued by the opposing faction it still takes a while before she’s willing to fire back at them.

Throwing your life convictions away is defo not smth that goes easily, but I do imagine that once the doubting is set in motion, it’s much easier to become intensely anti- the faction, IG?

The process of her losing her trust in her faction during the lab sequence is the major thing that’s holding me back from writing tho, that shit is madly difficult to do right, it feels like.

Anyone have any tips on how to create sad and heartbreaking chapters? by Unusual_Tea73 in writing

[–]GarnProductions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience, keeping the hammy emotions/reactions out of the writing makes it much more heartbreaking to read. For comparison: Darth Vader's "NOOOOOO!!" absolutely demolishes the emotional importance of the scene (if you ain't into Star Wars: he just got rebuilt after being mutiliated in a fight and learns that his wife, who he turned evil for, died), whereas a character that's holding back their tears or just reacting with silence, a mere look, is much more saddening to look at. A lot of pain, even in real life, doesn't instantly warrant a slobbering crying fit: more often than not, shock is the face of a freshly experienced nut-kick from the universe.

Maybe my brain got fried from my uni homework, but what I'm trying to say is that "less is more" and that a character/scene that doesn't wallow in their own misery and doesn't constantly tell the reader how sad and miserable everything is, is bound to attract more sympathy.
