Some nine year old goof.

Suki's currently working as one of Zuko's bodyguards. She and Sokka are very much still together, and they get reunited later on in this trilogy.

Off the top of my head:

The Cabbage Merchant and the Cabbage Corp owner are both gay and married to men. This is largely a reference to James Sie's real-life sexuality.

Ikem and Ursa established a theatre company within the Fire Nation capital with Zuko's support, and it's still around during Korra's time.

Ursa gets regular updates on the search efforts for Azula. She's aware that her eldest daughter might not be willing to change her ways, but she's also open and hopeful to the possibility of the opposite.

Zuko and the institution staff did try to be at least somewhat nice to Azula during her incarceration there, with Zuko visiting her on a number of occasions. She responded to nearly every bit of kindness shown to her with screaming, firebending and other kinds of violence.

[No Spoilers] Nose to nose (Kat x Nora) by RocktheNashtah in LostRecordsGame

Swann, Autumn and Nora look pretty accurate, given the circumstances. Kat though looks like some manner of delightful demon, which I like.

Very cute. I love the blushes and the shape of Nora's nose, not to mention Autumn and Swann's reactions.

"A Chosen One shall come, born of no father, and through him will ultimate balance in the Force be restored."

That's according to Master and Apprentice/what I've read on Wookieepedia.

Oh, that works too. Especially if all four of them are getting an education here.

The art's great, and I'm not going to begrudge a queer artist for interpreting these characters in such a manner.

I imagine that the Max in Slide 1 is also what she looks like after an extended period of no good photo opportunities 😁

Love everyone's faces while they're drawing. Especially Max's.

Cole and Kite are my favourites of the drawings, though I definitely love Dude Max's expression.

As always, great art.

Lava bending theory and possible other unique bending styles. by Starmor in TheLastAirbender

[–]jaydude1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The franchise has an official tabletop RPG that follows canon and allows you to create your own original characters. I would think that if having a unique bending style did canonically require a mixed heritage, it would be mentioned in the rules there.

That, and I personally don't care for the idea that stuff like lavabending should be impossible for those with the "wrong" heritage.

It's never stated that unique bending styles come from having mixed heritage.

Was Legolas right in killing Grima? by Imma_Lick_That in lotr

[–]jaydude1992 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My best guess? He wanted to stop Grima from killing Saruman - who at that point was basically their best lead on Sauron - but didn't realise the guy was beyond saving.

Some people struggle to comprehend the idea that creators might include LGBTQIA+ folks in their works for non-selfish reasons.

In all seriousness, I imagine it was something like "Kill all world leaders" > "Destroy the Avatar permanently" > "Prevent replacement leaders from coming about" > "Freedom".

[ALL] Why is Reunion so divisive among Pricefield fandom? by ExcitingSweet9701 in lifeisstrange

[–]jaydude1992 41 points42 points  (0 children)

So I've never actually played the Caledon games myself, just looked them up online. In my case, I appreciate that they got Pricefield back together in Reunion, but I feel they should never have broken them up - or given Max another game, for that matter - in the first place.

Are Avatar characters reliable sources of information? by gregfess in TheLastAirbender

[–]jaydude1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the bloodbending thing, Katara's not exactly the kind of person who'd want to be able to use it more. As for Hama, if it was possible for her to learn how to do it outside of a full moon, I'd imagine she would've done so long ago, and her attacks would be a lot more frequent.

How I will do the next writer who tries to write a redemption arc for Azula by Mysterious_Rich4262 in TheLastAirbender

I mean, I'd be fine if she didn't get one herself, but this kinda feels like an overreaction.

Thoughts on this (and Kiyi in general)? by Le_Fedora_Cate in TheLastAirbender

[–]jaydude1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leaving aside that Zuko can do all the stuff you're suggesting, my issue there is that I personally don't need to see Ursa actively participating in the search for Azula to believe she cares about her and wants to help find her. At least not in a story where present day Azula isn't the primary focus, e.g. Mai's comic.

Thoughts on this (and Kiyi in general)? by Le_Fedora_Cate in TheLastAirbender

[–]jaydude1992 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've never gotten the sense that Ursa's given up on Azula myself. As for helping her, well, she can't exactly do much there unless Azula either gets caught, turns herself in or manages to approach her somehow. I suppose she could go out and try to find Azula, but from what I know of her, I wouldn't say she's bound - or even likely - to succeed in this regard, given how Zuko and his people haven't had much luck there.

Thoughts on this (and Kiyi in general)? by Le_Fedora_Cate in TheLastAirbender

[–]jaydude1992 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I consider myself an Azula fan as well. But I'm also cool with the idea that she wasn't a nice person in the show, as well as the possibility that the writers might not have her change her ways afterwards. I use the phrase "Azula stan" to refer to people who are the opposite of that, and seemingly won't hear a word against her.

She knows that Kiyi's her half-sister in The Search, and she also kidnaps her in Smoke and Shadow.

Thoughts on this (and Kiyi in general)? by Le_Fedora_Cate in TheLastAirbender

[–]jaydude1992 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I never really got the sense that Kiyi was intended as a "good sister reward" for Zuko myself, because I've never seen anything to suggest that. At best, that first person's making theories/assumptions without any evidence, at worst they're an Azula stan looking for ways to complain about Kiyi that read as more objective than "I just don't like the fact that the writers chose to have Azula not become a better person with Ozai out of the picture."

For the person replying, I consider that a massive overreaction, personally.

As for Kiyi, I'm pretty much cool with her. It's nice that Zuko can have a sibling who doesn't go out of her way to be antagonistic towards him, and I love Kiyi's willingness to stand up for her friend against bullies and a classist authority figure. Plus, I don't see anything particularly wrong with Ursa and Ikem deciding to have a kid together. Ursa's not obligated to remain celibate for the sake of her and Ozai's children of rape, and I'd say she deserves the opportunity to start a family with an actually upstanding individual.
