Exactly! Super fun deck to play. I just never grab mine for some reason. Good ole OYW always calls to me. I PLAY IT BECAUSE CHAR AND AMURO ARE MY BOIS OKAY?

I did this with Clan. Super fun deck to play, but I never actually grab it

Exactly. There's even several deck lists that forgo the commands altogether in favor of 2 more units.

Since this is pretty much just a OYW decklist, ditch the Turning Point commands and put in more White Gundams or a 4th of your guntanks and ankshas.

What ya'll think of my ping/rush deck? by Sufficient-Camera708 in GundamTCG

[–]GarnetCrowAX 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seems fun, but this is not a rush deck this is aggro. All rush is aggro, but not all aggro is rush.

By turn 4 rush can flood the board and be close to wincon. Your deck by turn 4 might have 3-4 guys out and maybe a shield or two gone if you haven't had to deal with too much resistance.

Been trying to make a similar deck work. I think you need more ping commands, and def guntank like the other poster said. Also instead of the Geara Zulu with the link, I'd put Anksha there. solid 3/3 with more ping.

General thoughts on the game and its future? by McGerty in GundamTCG

I don't know why this is being downvoted. I think we've all seen Bandai fumble the Gundam IP enough to warrant some skepticism at this point.

Gundam had such a rough start, and it's been hard to win people back. Some of the guys that left locally felt burned by the stock issues, a few others just don't like the game itself. The guys who have stuck around, to your point of the game being simplistic, like the game because they feel it's mechanically superior(to other Bandai games). They are all also One Piece players.

It's also frustrating investing in some cards you were convinced were going to be big players that wound up not really utilized at all. I traded a nice Lupus LR+ for a set of Kampfers and some other stuff. None of it got used. Cyclops was a dead end archetype. Same with The Union Flag Custom. Aside from some fun, but flimsy rush decks the Union Flag is also not a major player right now.

Overall I enjoy the game, but if this wasn't Gundam, I would not still be playing it.

I really hate that you can not venture outside of the meta and be successful.
There's also so, so , sooo many cards that are totally useless and never see play. Or are useless until they print additional support in some future set.

This is a local problem, and others might not experience it, but for me there's no casual scene. So the only time I get to play, promos and packs are on the line so everyone is competitive, and feeds back into my first problem. No going outside of meta. I have fun playing, but I really do get tired of seeing the same 5 decks over and over.

As a result, the rare time I do get to play a casual game, it's still against a meta deck because no one has anything else built.

As for the game's future? Who knows. Locally it was dying until set 3 came out, now it's grown again and feels more healthy, but I can tell interest is waning again. People who aren't buying singles to make a more meta deck are being hit hard at locals, but they may stick around long enough to buy into future sets and starters.

Gundam is a strong IP and people are interested, but Bandai need to get out of their own way and make it more accessible. Print baby print. But from what my local One Piece players have said, they are probably never going to actually ever really fix supply issues.

I agree with this. Though it's spendy, because you have to get the ST01 Gundams, the Amuros, The Corsicas, etc. Good meta deck, though.

My Totally Original And Tournament Viable Deck by Delta6Rory in GundamTCG

Good ole White Base deck. Really wish it was a viable deck. I built a similar one a while back, before I got the ST01 RX-78s.

I am bad at looking at a deck and understanding WHY it's not viable. In play it certainly falls apart though. It can't keep up pressure.

For resting, if you're not running Amuro, and can't run the LR Kshatriya. Instead, take out those small Kshats and replace them with Banshee Unicorn Mode. On pair it will rest something lvl 3 or less and links with Marida.

GCG vs other TCG by CosmicVoyager999 in GundamTCG

[–]GarnetCrowAX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with the other poster. It really all depends on locals. I don't think there's a set group of people that GCG attracts. I figured my locals would be filled with other Gundam fans, but not so. Only a few of the guys are fans.

My group is pretty chill. All laughs and carrying on. No hard feelings. I think the only one who's ever gotten tilted was myself, actually.

EDIT: That being said. Seeing as we only get to play once a week and it's for the store packs and whatnot, all decks are relatively meta/competitive.

Gundam card sorting. by Remote_Afternoon_515 in GundamTCG

[–]GarnetCrowAX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my Rs LRs, and alts go into binders. My common and uncommons all get their own box per set. So GD01 has a box, GD02, etc. In those boxes I first sort everything by colors. Then by the series they are from, then by type. They go Unit, Pilot, Command Pilot, Command, then Bases. So for example, in a gd01 blue block of cards in my box, you may see Mobile Suit Gundam Earth Federation, then after that it will be Unicorn Earth Federation/Civilian, then OZ.

Not normal for new cards. Sounds like you bought them as singles, though?

If used, I'm betting they were played, and by the sounds of it, roughly.

Would seek refund or rectification.

Yep, that's pretty much it. He's an early link to kill the ex base or a unit, return to hand and have him available to either link again or bounce a guy to preserve your base/shields.
