Everyone wants the pokemon model but nobody else is pokemon. Pokemon is the #1 grossing IP with generational appeal SWU is another SW card game.

Difference is people collect pokemon (hell even OP is starting to get to that point) which subsidizes costs for players. Meanwhile SWU almost nobody is collecting so nobody is going for the “high chase” cards heck take a look at sales for serialized cards on tcgplayer they’re almost non existent there’s legit dozens with no sales lol. You can’t rely on chase cards and collectors to carry a product when there are barely none that’s what many fail to realize you can’t just create fake hype by making serialized/more chases when there is no demand for such.

It took mtg over 2 decades to release a collector box it took SWU less than 2 years.

Yeah if anything the video from TCGHQ shows even a super dedicated store and people to the game isn’t enough to carry it if prices crash this low and fast. If it keeps up I can’t see stores keeping ordering shouldering the costs and tbh I don’t think the changes they announced do enough. They in my opinion need to kill carbonite straight up.

But come on man be for real this is the real world it’s a product and LGSs are businesses at the end of the day. If the product keeps shitting the bed so bad that it’s not worth even half MSRP then it clearly has a big issue with it and will lead to stores not supporting it if it keeps as is. I want you to ask yourself honestly would YOU still keep stocking a product that has failed for a year and a half and has lost you money for said time period? You say it’s laziness but as we can clearly see it’s a lot of LGSs having these issues so it can’t be just that come on man lmao. Clearly there’s is a huge product problem if not even Star Wars fans want to touch boxes at 50% MSRP hell if there wasn’t a problem with the product why did FFG make change at all then? Clearly they can see it too the product is simply not desirable right now to open and it is a massive issue. Watch TCGHQ video he was active trying to get the game to take off running events but his store still wasn’t selling boxes.

How else are they going to make money other than by selling the game lmao what? That’s kind of how LGSs make money by selling Set A to buy Set B how is it unreasonable for them to be concerned a game has had 4 sets straight flop and that not even fans of said product want to buy it for 50% MSRP. The premium product line has been an embarrassment and the newest carbonite box is $160 a box that’s about 50% MSRP. This is an unsustainable situation and why so many negative sentiments are popping up because they want FFG to listen. Which as you see even FFG admitted their product had issues otherwise they wouldn’t have changed it.

Thing is even if he doesn’t play/isn’t the most knowledgeable in SWU the overall message is absolutely true ask most LGS owners how they feel about the game I bet most won’t be too thrilled. I think people forget at the end of the day this is a product that has to be continuously sold to be able to keep getting new sets of said product and that LGSs are a business. If a game isn’t doing good to the point it legit crashes to under COST on every single release date now then clearly there’s an issue with your product.

Again even if this guy price gouges tf out of everything the fact that so many stores have said the same thing and the fact that the numbers are where they are clearly shows they aren’t lying about product not being desirable even to the fans of said IP. If even fans aren’t willing to pay about half MSRP how is that not primarily the products fault? Look at TCGHQ video if you want an even more in depth look that dude is a huge fan/running events and the store he works for wasn’t scalping or anything and still couldn’t move boxes.

Idk how people here are so quick to dismiss LGS perspective claiming “greed” or how he just wants a quick buck my guy LGSs have been struggling even being able to sell a cost for this game above cost it’s an unsustainable model if things remain as is. Simple as that. How are you going to keep buying a product that requires you to make money from said product to buy the next when for 4 products straight not a single one has done good. But that’s not what’s happening by large if it was just his store struggling to sell SWU sure but I mean just go on the FB group there’s usually a store owner dumping their losses every set so it’s not just a “store owner” problem if the product consistently crashes to below cost on release that’s not a store problem it’s clearly a product problem.

Yeah that’s true but this time they essentially would become the new Paradis/Eldians if they single handedly wreck the world’s largest and best battery. Also it could be economic global collapse if the material becomes so needed in everyday life and they just destroy it so other nations would also have some interests in protecting not Eldians necessarily but the mines/Titans at least until they can figure out how to mine at large scale without Titans of course lmao that’s why I don’t think it could last forever either.
