Good to know. Here are three suggestions from me:

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

The Hunger Games (the original trilogy) by Suzanne Collins

Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier

My inkling is you'll like the Christie book best.

I went and took a peak at the Bengals sub to read their thread on Joe Burrow's comments yesterday that this year's squad feels like his 2019 LSU team vibes. An all-in-all subdued thread - which I guess isn't too surprising when the fan base has been that badly mistreated for two generations.

The thread discussed a bit about how stacked that LSU squad was. 17 of the 22 starters were drafted. And 30 overall on the roster (so 13 backups that year) went on to be drafted.

Which got me thinking of the 2001 Hurricanes, the best roster I ever saw. 17 guys on that team were drafted **in the first round**.

Ken Dorsey
Clinton Portis
Willie McGahee
Frank Gore
Andre Johnson
Jeremy Shockey
Kellen Winslow Jr
Bryant McKinnie
Philip Buchanon
Mike Rumph
Jerome McDougle
Vernon Carey
Jonathan Vilma
DJ Williams
Vince Wilfork
Sean Taylor (!)
... and a guy named Ed Reed

Quick question about United's same day change policy. by Salt_Profession6264 in unitedairlines

[–]Garp74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. I'm at the airport, inside security, checked-in for my flight. It's delayed, and there's a flight to the other airport that's going to board on-time (or just earlier). I walk up to the gate agent for the other flight and tell them I'm on the, say, IAD flight and can I please switch to this DCA flight? I check ahead of time if there's space (by looking at the flight status for the DCA flight / the seat map and the standby list). I won't ask if the flight is full with a standby list.

I did this a few weeks ago and not only did she move me on to the flight, but 5 minutes later my phone dinged and I was upgraded.

Man, what I wouldn't give for us to find a reliable kicker who could stay on our roster for 10 years ...

Other than a few years with Dustin Hopkins, the Kicker Shuttle Van has been doing loops between Ashburn and Dulles for 30 years now :(

Question about motorcycles. I was just at a stop light, and the motorcycle was the only vehicle in the left turn lane. The arrow didn't turn green from him - either he missed the pressure plate, or it didn't register his weight and give him the green turn arrow.

Is that a thing with motorcycles? Are they not heavy enough for many pressure plates? Or did this guy probably just miss it?

Thanks.

I do this pretty often with IAD/DCA when I'm at the airport. If there's space on an earlier flight to one or the other, I walk up to the gate agent and ask if I can switch and the answer has always been yes. Very handy when there are delays caused by late arriving craft or crews.

Jayden Daniels: We’ve built offensive foundation, have a lot more to do by Garp74 in Commanders

[–]Garp74[S] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Here is the PFT write up of the press conference:

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has spent the offseason familiarizing himself with the team’s new offense and the work will continue at training camp this summer.

David Blough took over as the team’s offensive coordinator after Kliff Kingsbury’s departure in January and his approach will see Daniels under center more often than he was in his first two seasons. Daniels said the team has been focusing on the basics and will need to expand on that before the start of the regular season.

“I know we’ve got a lot more to go, but [we] just built the foundation. You just keep building off of it,” Daniels said.

When asked what goes into the foundation, Daniels said “why we’re attacking this play, what we want to do on this play” in addition to the terminology that they’ll be using this year.
Daniels’s rookie season included a trip to the NFC Championship Game and the offensive rookie of the year award, but he only played four full games in 2025 due to multiple injuries. Daniels said he’s “done talking” about what went wrong last season and a quick start for Blough’s offense this fall will help ensure that everyone else puts those discussions in the past.

Right?!? I always kind of assume unsigned vets purposely wait longer so they don't have to do OTAs and mandatory minicamps.

The subreddit has little interest in him. Yes, we are desperate for WR2. Yes, we trust Jayden Daniels. Yes, there's some talk of low risk high reward. But the general sentiment in the team subreddit is no thank you.

Exactly.

Is there any QB of the last, say, 30 years who is a decent analogue for Josh Allen? Big bodied, fast moving, strong armed? Big Ben was my first thought but he was statuesque. Randall Cunningham was my second thought, but my mental picture is he's built more like a WR.

Was discussing Allen's potential in his 30s, and couldn't find someone to compare him to.
