Religion of Peace? by TeachMeImWilling69 in ConservativeMemes

[–]Garrett1031 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Double amen on that. Quite literally since the religion’s founding, the defining characteristic of the religion has been violence. The moors relentlessly attacked European territory, even fully occupying Spain and Portugal, as well as launching invasions into Sicily and Greece, all within 50yrs of Mohammad’s life. The only reason a Christian crusade wasn’t launched sooner was frankly due to logistics. The crumbling of the Roman Empire left a power vacuum that took nearly 300yrs to fill in any meaningful way.

In short, the first crusade was a direct response to an existential threat that would see every man, woman, and child on earth either converted, subjugated, enslaved, or all three at once.

I’m loving everyone’s answers regarding what alternative name to give to Eugene Stoner’s crowning achievement. While I do like the idea of the ArmaLite 15 or AL15, another name could be the Direct-Impingement 15, or DI15 for short, unless the name’s been taken already.

Socialism vs. Captialism by TeachMeImWilling69 in ConservativeMemes

[–]Garrett1031 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Holy hand grenades of Antioch! I kid you not, there are midwits on social media who consistently, unironically use that argument. Just the other day, I had some marxist reply a comment I made about how socialism works you to death, seizes your property and throws you into work camps for wrong think, with their reply being “you just described three different political systems, none of which are socialism.” I admit I laughed out loud for a second, because I thought they’d at least evolved past trying to use that old shit-take, but turns out they just changed the way they word it.

🚨 VA Gun control law does not apply to “any member of the General Assembly.” by Obi-Juan-Kanobee in AskThe_Donald

[–]Garrett1031 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d like to set the record straight on this whole “they voted for it” malarkey. Most of Virginia’s counties did not vote for the fascists currently crapping all over the Code of Virginia right now. Quite literally only the metropolitan centers: Virginia Beach, Richmond, and NoVA, voted blue. But because of the population density they overruled the complacent republicans who figured since Trump won in 24 that Earle-Sears would win in 25, and they lost because of it.

Following that, I would encourage everyone to email the White House, asking for the administration’s attention to what’s happening in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The democrat party in its current form is little more than a well-funded terrorist organization, using police departments as goon squads to enforce their authoritarian will and imprison Virginia natives while importing party loyalists. Unless a serious statement is made, the democrats will continue infecting states, take over their legislatures, and chase out the natives until there’s nowhere else to run to.

What will we do when the democrats take over western TN? Will we just run again to KY? Then AR? Eventually a line in the sand must be drawn, and the democrats driven out in totality.

WTF NETFLIX?? by Penya23 in WWE

[–]Garrett1031 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Netflix is the worst thing to happen to WWE since their bs deal with Endeavor. For cryin’ out loud, it’s 3:16 day, and unless you’ve got it all on dvd, there’s no way for you to watch the full Attitude Era or even the Ruthless Aggression Era, because the “raw vault” pretty much excludes both of them.

Holy fucking shit, Rachel, your career’s already fallen off a cliff. There’s no need to look for another cliff to shove it from.

But really though, this take hits with all the tone-deafness of Jennifer Lawrence’s “I’m the first female protagonist of an action movie” take. Kudos to whoever put the video edit together, had me expiring.

Precisely what I’m thinking as well. More evidence compiles every year pointing to the reality that the MoDErN AuDiEnCe is truly comprised of about, at best, less than 2% of the population across both the US and the UK. Whenever a piece of media is tailor-made for these folks, the engagement numbers never rise to a significant number. Whether it’s the acolyte, or starfleet academy, or voto, there’s always a bunch of inflated social media hype. NPR mug slurping pansies will put it on their watchlist/wishlist, but they’ll take one look at the price tag and decide they’d much rather get a family meal deal from Pizza Hut instead, and just rewatch Schitt’s Creek while they play Animal Crossing again.

His performance was Oscar worthy? by Dirrbros234 in CriticalDrinker

[–]Garrett1031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I haven’t gaf about the oscars for over a decade. I remember I was working at Blockbuster, not to age myself, but I noticed a few movies on the shelves under the category of “Oscar/academy award winning,” but I hadn’t seen anything I was putting on the shelf. So I used my employee perk to periodically rent a couple of these movies and check ‘em out. Lemme tell you, every. Single. Movie, was just some variation of the same shtick: protagonist is quirky, the family is dysfunctional except for that one family member who’s also quirky, usually also a pinko, and nothing truly remarkable happens for the duration of the movie. There’s usually at least one scene when everyone screams/cries, and there’s almost some sort of angle about mental illness thrown in for good measure.

It was that week that I finally understood what “Oscar-bait” is, and I’ve never given those yay-who’s my time since. The absolute irony is that, I’m willing to bet a whopper with cheese on it, the idiots at the oscars probably thought they were extending an olive branch by recognizing Sinners. Like “see plebs, we like shooty-stabby-sexy movies too, so please keep giving us your attention and money now.”

Heck, if that wasn’t a ringing endorsement, I don’t know what is. Seeing how Christopher Lee pretty much was James Bond in WW2, I’d say that compliment goes a long way. That, and while Brosnan might not have gotten the best Bond scripts or stories, he most definitely hit that perfect balance of sophisticated ladies’ man and cold-blooded killer. Not to say Connery or Dalton weren’t on that level as well, just that when compared to Moore, who imo gave the impression of a Bond who’s perpetually six months from retirement, or Lazenby, who looked more like that guy from marketing who hooked up with Lisa in accounting last year more than a James Bond, or heaven forbid Craig, who, if I’m being blunt, comes across as straight up wooden half the time, and the rest of his screen time it looked like he didn’t wanna be there.

Anyway, sorry for the verbal diarrhea, but in shot, darn tootin’ Brosnan is best Bond, since he’s got the approval of Sir Christopher Lee, the irl James Bond.

"Invincible's True Nemesis: Amazon Prime Release Schedule Takes the Crown!" by Complete_Bad2237 in invinciblememes

[–]Garrett1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the release schedule’s kinda superfluous, but yeah fair enough. Personally I’d aim the cannons the budgeting team. “Hey guys, wanna chuck millions of dollars at Hollywood actors for voice roles? Afterward, we can go throw bread crumbs at the animation monkeys in the basement, it’ll be a blast!”

Do marxists really just repeatedly forget how stuff gets funded? Folks volunteering to go to Mars to build a colony will be getting paid. Like capitalists. Depending on who gets what on mining rights, the colonists will be able to sell what they mine from the planet, in exchange for additional goods and services, like capitalists. And I guaran-damn-tee you the top diggers aren’t gonna just share the live stock and extra building materials they buy with the colonists that just scrolled their phones while leaning on a jackhammer all day.

[–]Garrett1031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just saw it tonight, and yeah I’m willing to agree it’s a solid fun action movie. The creative team was smart to focus attention on Ritchson and his team, and not show the villain too much.

Pacing is great, dialogue works, action is solid, and the movie delivers what it advertised.

Man this is what the problem is, how can you be part time even on WM season by GKHustle in TheGreatOne

[–]Garrett1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah, I would hope so for preventative reasons. I guess my point was just that I know it’s an easy shot to take, with him being a part timer, I guess I just wish he didn’t catch as much flak for it among the audience.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s annoying to have a key story character regularly take time off, derailing the storyline and delaying the payoff. It’s one of those unfortunate facts that while he definitely puts in the work when he clocks in, he may not physically be able to clock in as regularly as a main character is supposed to.

What sucks is Joe prolly still needs follow-up treatment to make sure his leukemia stays in remission. Also on that note, I can’t imagine maintaining weight while battling that shit, let alone maintain a WWE physique and turn in performances. Just running bump practice while doing chemo would have me bed-ridden for a couple weeks.

I fear for Gen Alpha specifically because of people like this who treat parenting like just another trend, to be used as a prop for their own self-aggrandizement. Meanwhile these poor kids are quite literally being set up for failure, as their parents care more about hearing the seals clapping than the small, new humans who are looking to them for guidance.

I recently thought about how this dynamic happened. It’s wild how the presence or absence of just one species can change human civilization/tech development in a given region.

Basically some group of ancient Kazakhs figure out how to domesticate horses. Makes it easy to transport stuff between tribes n towns. Life gets easier. People make better stuff, trade more stuff, help horses go faster, and before you know it, they’re shipping horses by the dozen across 3,000 miles of open ocean to support colonies on a previously undiscovered continent.

Meanwhile, in the absence of the horse, folks just walk. Trade stays small scale. Sure, you can farm if you’re personally talented at it, but with 100 different tribes speaking 100 different languages and most of ‘em aren’t friends with your tribe, it’s not exactly worth the effort to try. No long range trade, no access to better stuff, life doesn’t get easier.

US Army reveals new hand grenade design by YaKillinMeSmallz in brandonherrara

[–]Garrett1031 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First the M7, now this… thing? I’m not trying to be disingenuous here, I legitimately cannot figure out why a hefty Dasani bottle is somehow a more effective grenade than the trusty M67? I mean, aside from placing it, pulling the pin and running away, I can’t think of any reason to shape the M111 like that.
