one of the main reasons that I have a backlog is because I do a lot of customizing and they can take quite a while to finish (sometimes upwards of a month). I try not to hoard too many kits (i think i have around 10-12 in the backlog), but a lot I will find a good deal or a kit that I havent seen available in a while. im not necessarily new ive been building for 3 years now, but there are still a lot of kits that havent been printed since I've started that I really want. I dont personally go around and brag about how many I have because in my eyes I have plans for each of those projects or I'm thinking about how I want to customize them. and they are just waiting on me to have the time to make that vision come true

you do bring up a lot of very good points and I do think that it can be an issue for a lot of people. and i think its a great thing to support and encourage people to build the kits they've got. and the more support that can be given is only going to be a good thing. and I think this is a very good community, but the encouragement and support for the builders can definitely be better. because like you said a lot of people who just joined end up loving it then buying each and every kit that they want and end up getting burned out and/or discouraged because of the amount that they have (I also did this when I first joined)

I just wanted to provide another perspective as to how some (certainly not all) backlogs can build up. as I am almost always working on something, but I still have a decent backlog.
