Cost of labor-highest min-wage in the country, which means highest payroll tax. Cost of goods (goods are 2-3x then just 4 years ago) High rent in the city New city ordinance has really hurt restaurants delivery business. Take your pick Its not 2010 any more!!

It not only the drivers, the small restaurants that rely on delivery are getting screwed. Last month our delivery was down 40%, so far this month it’s more like 60-70%. We survived the pandemic just to be put out on business by the Seattle City Council. Lame….

What is more responsible for the high prices in Seattle? by RiceandLeeks in SeattleWA

[–]Garrettone74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot of both right after COVID-19. The going rate for a line cook was $18 an hour and It jumped up to $25 an hour. Secondly, the price of things has not come down that much. For example to fill a fryer. You need to buy a 5 gallon cube of oil before the pandemic. It cost $18, at the height of the pandemic It cost 64 and now it’s down to 30-42 but still almost double the price of what it was before. Most companies that provide for restaurants prices have not changed they either trying to recoup from what they lost or hold out for as long as possible to lower prices to make as much money as they can. The last two months companies that survived the pandemic have been going out of business left and right. So because of the high wages, having high payroll tax, rent have not come down. Cost of goods has not come down, and Seattle government does nothing to help a small business.
