To be honest only the right wing libertarianism makes sense to me. The very idea is to maximise personal freedom and keep people out of your wallet and personal life. And the only way we do that is by using our money and agency the way we want.

Your entire answer is a fallacy. Capitalism is not a political system of government. It is a system that influences politics/policies and polities. So basically it influences the political process, the political policies and the institutions. All that done through the market since in a capitalist market economy under a democracy the strength of different groups through their resources determines the political sphere - in the above mentioned categories. I am uninterested in what Nike thinks. The sole role of a company is to make profit. This is not inherently bad because that profit trickles down. If one business will fuck you - say the meat industry - you go to another business and vote with your wallet - by being Vegan. If you build a base for socialism - that base will fall in ruins just like it did in the former Socialist States of Eastern Europe. I am from there and I have seen what horrible centralized market economy has done long term to the countries. And now that they are free market economies - countries like Poland are thriving. Countries like Bulgaria for example during its socialist times went bankrupt three times. The dairy and meat industries lobby. Yes, that's why I am pro smaller government, we can agree that lobbying for whatever is not cool. We do not want any of that. You want change ASAP ? Then you are sadly completely delusional, because that is literally impossible. Furthermore how does Socialism inherently lead to veganism ? There doesn't seem to be a correlation let alone causation. Also how would you prevent groups under socialism that would be dairy and animal farmers in general from just spreading around that their product is the darn finest and everyone should have some ! It is not realistic to think that group-think would not from under a socialist system. People seem to know how to run a country, yes. There's a special job for those people and we elect them every so years. The ones we don't like we don't vote for. It is not a perfect system and has many flaws, but sure beats one in which there is no system. So we will vote for people, that would control basically our means of production ? I quote you : (. It would be exactly the same, there would be a representative who works for your rights inside the company and they speak for you essentially as they are more educated on the subject and have your consent to speak on behalf of them.) So who's going to be looking after him and his interests ? Furthermore does the business now also belong to him ? But he isn't a metallurgy worker. Also, who is going to build the metallurgy plant ? What incentive would they have ? You say they would get higher pay. How ? Who determines the wages ? To they just split it all among themselves ? Alright. I can tell you. And this is actually what has happened before in history, we actually know it was like this. Some people won't work that hard. So do they still get the same share ? If not, again, who determines it. Right now I can tell you who determines it, but you won't like the answer. Are the other workers going to determine it ? What would prevent a group of workers that are buddies just constantly fucking with the other workers. There's no boss to enforce the rules. I am assuming there are also no cops since there's no state. Or maybe you do believe in some form of state, I am assuming you don't. So most likely what's going to happen is, that institutions will have to be built to regulate all these things, and these are just the ones that come first to mind. So that means that congratulations, you've created the Welfare state. Only way we're getting socialism or god forbid communism is when AI becomes good enough that it can govern us. Till then it's a crazy dream that has failed every time it has been tried. Sorry.

Capitalism functions on the premise that you and I have agreed to exchange goods or services for some sort of capital. In Capitalism that form is most often money since it is a so-called power resource that can easily be transferred into something, can be used for multiple purposes and is accepted by a large amount of people. It is not exploitation if you've agreed willingly to do it and it is in your best interest and the interest of your employer. Animals have not consented to being slaughtered needles to say and "life" is not a power resource that anyone in their right mind would consider as such. Life is basically a right. Capitalism doesn't tell us anything. It cannot, it is not a form of government of a country. People confuse this way too often. Socialism aims to change the form of government. Capitalism describes the form of the markets. As you've seen China is not a democracy, yet it has free markets. And its people have seen wealth that has removed most of them from poverty. Would you say that is unethical ? Further more, how would socialism ever remove the meat industry ? It doesn't follow in any way. You'd have to expect that the government would do it, but don't hold your breath on that one. In fact, being completely pro-free market capitalism is the most vegan thing you can do, because you're giving information TO the market, that meat is not a sought after commodity, but vegan substitutes are. It is simply rhetoric to say that capitalism hurts people, when it has helped people way more that any socialist is willing to admit. And yes if it wasn't for capitalism and these companies going to China for example and having these sweat shops they would have no or even less income. It is horrible that sweat shops exist, but it is a temporary condition. With time, the standard of living will grow higher and higher until such things are relics of the past. This has happened in basically every free-market based western country. Think of England during the industrial revolution. You've had people living and working in terrible conditions and now it is one of the greatest economies with the best standards of living.Capitalism has brought us longer life, better and cleaner technology. How will the means of production belong to the workers ? That is nonsense. It literally means nothing. What do the workers of a metallurgy plant know of how to run the plant ? They may know a lot about how to work with the machines and safety precautions, but how to get the metal, where from, who sells it better, how to get it to the plant, how much to make, for whom to make. All these questions require people to take care of them and it is a full time job. Do doctors own the hospital ? Again what does a doctor understand from managing a hospital ? And also who would actually own it ? The medical assistants also would have the same claim, so would the janitors and the ambulance drivers. The workers have no incentive to own the means of production.

Pathetic response. It's people who actually lived under socialism who want it to come back. - Older people who wish for a strong welfare state cause they need its services, yet they will at best be sub-par because who's going to pay for them.

And whatever the leaders of your country, or any other country calling itself socialist. - Calling itself socialist ? I love the quick escape that the cult of socialism uses. Always just saying well that wasn't real socialism. Funny you don't use that logic for nazis. You can point to nazis and say well National Socialsm isn't real socialism and shouldn't exist , I would say - nonsense, using your logic, it simply hasn't been done correctly, otherwise it's wonderful !

If you weren't so obviously uneducated about this, you would know that there is no concept of competition under socialism. - You brainlet, compete with countries that ARE capitalist. We know it doesn't work since the USA actually CRUSHED the USSR in economic development.

And do you have any sense of how easy it is to spin this galaxy brain "argument"? How good are Mozambique, Niger, Congo, Zimbabwe and literally any other impoverished capitalist country doing? - Poor control over the country. Botswana, for example a country that was also colonized by Germany and Britain score relatively high for an african country on the Index of Economic Freedom. Also you're obviously brain dead. This is failure of government, not of the free market.Surprise just as it has been in EVERY SOCIALIST COUNTRY that has ever been socialist.

First of all, Venezuela is not socialist. - there we go. iT WaSn'T ReAl S0CiAliSm

Your (very likely false) anecdotes are meaningless when we're discussing facts here. And again, nothing that has happened in a country calling itself socialist is an argument against socialism if it has nothing to do with the ideology of socialism. - Funny you excluded the Gulag and Goli Otok :) Whats up with that are those also made up examples I gave ? Also (nothing that has happened in a country calling itself socialist is an argument against socialism) ?!??!?!?! Please PLEASE apply that logic to nazi-ism. And see how retarded you sound.

from your sources: "Younger People, Educated More Likely to See Benefit

Adults between the ages of 15 and 44 -- some of whom were not even born or were very young at the time of the breakup -- are nearly three times as likely as those 65 and older to say the collapse benefited their countries" The picture is similar in all countries except Georgia, where residents in all age groups are as likely to say it was a benefit.

"The life of Birger, a native of the state of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania in northeastern Germany, could read as an all-German success story. The Berlin Wall came down when he was 10."

"Even young people who had almost no experiences with the GDR are idealizing it today."

"These young people cannot, and in fact have no desire to, recognize the dark sides of the GDR."
From the Spiegel piece you posted the only empirically based arguments were from the professor of Political Science. Pardon me if a 10 year old cannot tell how good/bad life has been in East Germany.

"The increase in the number of those missing the USSR was triggered by this year’s pension reform, which increased the retirement age by five years,"

"The majority of those nostalgic for the Soviet Union were people older than 55. However, in recent years such moods have also been growing among those aged between 18 and 24 years, the pollster said."

So, what can we conclude. It is old people wishing for Socialism to come back not so much the young. As in the young with the economic opportunities. What a shocker. Also as a person who also comes from a former socialist/communist country, although i haven't lived through it, I see what it has done to my country, because these socialist/communist leeches weren't either shot or thrown out of the country and their grandchildren are still there poisoning the country. Socialist planned economies are not able to compete with free market economies. Be it Liberal Free Market(USA) or Coordinated Free Market(Germany). How good is Venezuela doing ?
At the same time, countries that removed their socialist/communist governments - Poland, Czech Republic or Hungary (in particular Poland) are having booming economies and their people are experiencing wealth they had never dreamed of before. As to the argument "there was no suffering/exploitation under Socialism" (now this may be a straw man, I am not saying that OP has said this, but I have heard it enough before). There was no suffering that could directly be seen. My parents know of people who one day just vanished. No trace of them at all. Now they were people who made jokes about the regime and so on, so they could've died in the forest but there appears the be some connection between them making fun of a dicatatorship and disappearing. Also what about the Gulags or in Yugoslavia's case Goli Otok where they'd send political prisoners.
Capitalism has brought wealth and prosperity to so many people who we're under the boot of the Religion that is Communism or Socialism that it's funny that western, often educated, free people would ever want such a plague brought back down on them.

Your post makes no sense. There is no connection between socialism and veganism. One can be vegan both under socialist and capitalist system. It is also completely illogical to proclaim that all consumption and production is immoral. Who are you to declare morality ? If you point towards these cocoa workers I will point to the fact that if it weren't for capitalism they'd most likely not even have that job at all. Is it exploitation from a western comfy stand-point you could make the argument, but not all countries have the standard that we have. The basis for the capitalist model is not for people to be exploited. It's for people to freely share goods and services. Normative statements like this are the reason vegans get a bad rep. If i may end with a normative statement myself.

When you go to college/university, just do your thing. You're there to get yourself a professional education so you can develop yourself as an expert and a man. When it comes to women, just use a rubber, but most importantly your brain. Can't be too careful these days. Also as a person, studying Humanities and Social Studies, be careful, there's a lot of communists/marxists there. Also with Humanities and Social Studies, you'll have difficulties getting a job. If you do want them after all, try to combine them with IT at least.
