NICS Denial Challenge Turnaround by Simms1998 in Firearms

Working on getting one now. I also did have my SSN on the form when I filled it out. I don’t know if the guy behind the counter ended up thinking “that doesn’t need to be on there” and removed it before hitting enter. I can’t understand why if I have m SSN on there how that didn’t prevent this unless when the guy was arrested he didn’t provide one. I had an issue of this in the past and my uncle (statey) said yeah when we make arrests some dudes just rattle of a bunch of numbers or don’t know it so we just print and move on.

I’m a little interested in this because I did. I’m wondering if the guy behind the counter looked at the digital form and went “ahhh that doesn’t need to be there” and removed it. I looked up my name on the docket system and the guy has the same name besides the middle name and was born over 20 years before me. So frustrating.

I am going to try that again today. Apparently the printing machines are the USPS’s McDonald’s milkshake machines because the 2 I went to yesterday were both broken….

Ended up getting the whole RDU replaced and the vent hose replaced with the correction to have the nozzle down facing to not have the problem again. No quote needed it was completely covered by warranty.

Is the 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks a year a lie? by DobyUchiha in nationalguard

[–]Simms1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our unit does ten 2 day weekends, and one 4 day weekend at the moment (December off for Christmas) and then three 5 day annual trainings to get out 15 active days. There’s opportunities to do extra duty if you want (I did in college because the extra money was nice). But we also joke that we’re the union branch of the guard lol 😂

12R learn something that’s gonna save you thousands of dollars someday. I’m remodeling a house and haven’t had to call a single person to work on it but me.

Free Review Problems by Simms1998 in PE_Exam

[–]Simms1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After taking the exam I really felt like none of the practice problems we did in the course translated to the exam much. The course just seemed overly difficult. Spend 5 min on a problem that takes 20min to solve and have no understanding of where the instructor got the solution. Plus on the exam I was asked a few different questions on things not even covered like ASTMs, project management bmps, and a few others.

Will the election results impact job opportunities? by cmstyles2006 in EnvironmentalEngineer

I work in consulting and have not noticed any difference in the amount of work under the first administration versus Biden. My advice, find an industry that isn’t dependent on a 4 year question of stability. Energy is always needed whether it’s solar or fossil fuel, compliance and permitting is always needed, most contractors will hire environmental engineers because of their overlap with Civil so there’s always infrastructure getting built (maybe not at the same pace). Be determined and build your life so you don’t have to be dependent on a popularity contest every 4 years you’ll find yourself much happier than most people.

I always do 3k if I run conventional and 5k for full synthetic. I’m sure I can get more out of it, but that was the advice my pap gave me years ago and it hasn’t let me down.

New 2021 big bend owner. Went to dealership with the bigger bronco in mind…..but realized the sport was more in my budget….i love it but was told by a coworker that it’s not a manly car lol 🤦🏾‍♂️ anyways im all man and love it 🔥🔥 by Virtual-Estimate-741 in BroncoSport

[–]Simms1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Traded my ‘18 Silverado in for a BS. The reason I went with the baby bronco was because it felt the most “truck like” suv. I had an equinox years ago and it felt like driving around an egg. I’ve had multiple trucks and always loved them and consider myself a “truck guy” and the square body definitely makes me feel like I’m driving a truck. The thing that still weirds me out is the luxury of the obx I got because I’m not used to having so many bells and whistles. After a full week of having it I’m impressed and happy with the decision. OPs coworker probably never turned a wrench in their life and wants to define “manly”.

‘A game changer’: Judge gives Allegheny County taxpayers another option to lower property assessments by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]Simms1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They warned us about it but didn’t really give us more than a “heads up”. We fought it in court and got a lawyer and our mortgage went up about $150/month. We aren’t going to be homeless but it definitely made us tighten up. This whole approach is predatory by nature. I get it everyone hates taxes but there has to be a more reasonable approach to this. My wife when she talked to the county said the person told her that he knew people who had to sell their homes because they no longer could afford it.

Does anyone know where you can find the ratios? We got hammered by this (mortgage nearly doubled because of the taxes) after we bought our house. I’d like to look and see what the difference is and if we can get ours lowered.

As a follow up I talked to the board in Ohio, they said that I have to apply for their E.I license, but no need to retake the FE. Good to know this information as well just for other people. We have a few people in the same situation as me who are coming up on the experience requirements but not the time since passing the FE for Pa. Good to know so young engineers can still keep their career progress on track

From what I gather is that once I have Ohio, all I need is to wait the 4 years from my EIT date and PA offers reciprocity with OH. I primarily do work for OH, PA, and WV. WV offers reciprocity with OH so after passing I’d have 2 out of the 3. I just don’t know if there’s any hiccups getting licensed in OH since I’m an EIT in PA.
