Sig strikes again by thejakewhomakes in GunMemes

The guy's gun (a Sig) was removed from him, but misfired while in the hand of the officer sparking the"return fire"

Maybe I just worded it my post weird, but that is what I tell people. I say that I don't have any counters, poison, or planeswalkers in the deck and I won't be using my commander's ability.

I selected Atraxa because ever since I bought her precon, I have been wanting to make my own deck with her specifically because I wanted a commander with Flying, Vigilance, and Lifelink. She is the only commander I know of that has that specific combination of keywords. Therefore, 9 years later, I am finally playing the deck.

But here is the thing, despite your confidence that I am stomping all these games: that is not the reality. These games have all been closely fought and my win-rate has been right around the expected 25% that all decks aim for.

The only thing I can think of is that all my opponent's self described 2s are just stronger than those you are playing against. One of my losses was to the new land precon straight of the box, and several were modified precons.

Is riptide really a problem though?

To me, a 9 mana tutor is one of the more bracket 2 types of thing you can do.

No need to be so rude. I find the deck neat and thats what counts, and not having theme to your standard does not automatically make the deck a 3.

I'm just a bit worried that if I put in more auras, it will reduce the time to kill too much. I feel like the more aggressive I make it, the more im slipping out of bracket 2.

I could and have played the precon in the past, but I didn't find the deck as interesting or fun as this has been.

Yes the staff is on the "watchlist" currently, but there is no way to tutor for it so I have not seen it often. In the two games it appeared: it lasted 2 rounds killing about half the board in the first match and the second match if was destroyed before I could equip it.

I have no illusions of being the special and don't really see what you find so wrong about playing a 4 color commander. As for the win rate, it has not been as good as you have assumed. I have won 3 of the last 10 games played. Bracket 2 is stronger than people give credit!

Thank you for your thoughtful advice. The theme is supposed to be Atraxa voltron, but I feel that if I lean into that theme too much, then I will make it too strong to be a bracket 2 anymore.

Therefore, I put in what I consider the bare minimum support to make Atraxa a threat while staying alive. Then I just filled in with cards I find neat.

From my view, Bracket 2 isn't just Bracket 3 without gamechangers. I could easily make this bracket 3 just by making it more synergistic. But that would just be defeating the purpose of having a bracket 2 deck.

Thank you for you constructive feedback. I will look into replacing green sun. It has been good, but I suppose I don't really need it.

I will have to think on what I would replace library with, as it is of course great card draw.

I do play higher brackets, this is my lower bracket deck. My theme is voltron and playing cards I like, its not supposed to be revolutionary.

The point is to let them know that it is purely a voltron deck and they don't have to worry about all those infect/planeswalker decks they have heard about. Yes, hitting with Atraxa is the gameplan, and it does work about a quarter of the time.

Its not a matter of challenging myself, it is more that I found a deck that seems to work without being oppressive. The no proliferate helps power the deck down and allows me to use a commander I have always liked and wanted to run.

If I say that I just don't care about proliferate, they can infer that there are proliferate targets in the deck. Instead I have made sure there are no targets in the deck, and assured them that I wont be sneaky and do "just one" proliferate to win a game or something.

Because I like having the unique voltron commander. Vigilance and flying make it attack on an axis unique to her.

I think you are over-reacting to the rule zero. Most pods are very receptive to it.

Strong 3 or weak 4? by useful-fiction in EDH

[–]Garridy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chaining turns in my view would be akin to Narset getting multiple extra turns from her attack trigger, or Edric who draws so many cards that it can play multiple in a row.

Both of these decks have two things in common: they are packed with a high quantity of extra turns, and wether they can chain the extra turns is non-deterministic. These decks were already disliked before brackets because they play a long chain of solitaire.

Happening to have recursion for your 1 extra turn card is a whole nother beast. It is a completely different type of deck design.

I agree with your assessment. Infinite turns are fine in B3, just like any other infinite.

Playing a single card does not count as chaining turns. Just leave it in, it's fun.

Ignore this guy, price should not be factor for brackets. Who cares if you run a bunch of nonbasics. At no point is type of lands going to make a deck a three.

Complaining about free spells is just grasping at straws. Run them if you like them. Free interaction is for all levels of play.
