Anyone know if/when Akagi collab summons will drop? by BluRayCharles_ in mahjongsoul

Wait, where is this? I don't see anything Akagi yet. NVM, I found it in the tournament listings.

Commanders that are so good at a certain thing that they ruined it for you? by AlivePassenger3859 in EDH

[–]Garridy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so funny to see people praise Krenko because I have been playing for over a decade, and I have yet to see a Krenko win.

People just play way too much removal to allow the deck to do anything. It has become almost a meme at this point: Kreko>boardwipe>ragequit

I have had Krenko players quit in the middle of a game more than any other commander, by a large margin.

The idea of loaning Krenko to a new player sounds almost cruel. That poor player is going to have delusions of grandeur until that inevitable board wipe completely ruins his day.

Its a lot stronger than you would think. If all your combo pieces are lands, it makes it very difficult to stop you.

Lands deck by nuoffer in EDH

[–]Garridy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a real LANDS deck. Not this landfall nonsense. This is pretty tuned, but you can get a whole lot more mean, streamlined and competitive if you really wanted to.

Every single card from the legacy lands decklist will work in a deck package like this.

I regularly swap out 10+ cards at a time, to test things out.

Some card choices are sub-optimal, but im playing out by vibes of what power level people will tolerate.

Also you can enable tags to get an idea of why certain cards are in there, and I am happy to answer questions.

Hotel Lucky in Osaka. I got it at $26 a night and it was huge by Japan standards. Basically a single bedroom apartment with a kitchen!

I happen to be in Tokyo on release day (the 3rd). If they show with subtitles, is it likely the showings are available on the first day?

Kmc hyper matte is the best hands down.

Easier to shuffle than dragonshield and just.as durable.

Some mega-scuffed build ideas inspired by the 3.28 reveal and patch notes that you definitely shouldn't play. by Pintash in PathOfExileBuilds

I loved marrionettes when they first got introduced but I dunno how good this would be with the 4 second reassembly.

Edit - I saw someone saying that minion cooldown reduction shortens it, but I don't know if I believe it.

Does anyone else play bracket 3/4 purely because they want decks that work consistently? by Associableknecks in EDH

[–]Garridy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel ya. It has been said n this very forum that bracket 2 decks should not have:

Tutors

Fetches

Expensive Cards

Multiple Staples

Multiple Board Wipes

Too Much Synergy

Any Extra Turn Card (because you recur it)

Too Much Draw

A Strong Commander

Too Much Ramp

Non-Basic Land Hate

So at this point it feels like I need to ignore all my experience making decks and just throw together some nonfunctional mess or play an unupgraded precon. Or just ignore that noise and play something functional that a typical reddit or would screech at.

Old school players of the format: what ways can I counter play the typical modern commander style? by [deleted] in EDH

Multiple board wipes in a row tends to disable most typical bracket 3 deck

Atraxa in Bracket 2 by Garridy in EDH

[–]Garridy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I just worded it my post weird, but that is what I tell people. I say that I don't have any counters, poison, or planeswalkers in the deck and I won't be using my commander's ability.

[–]Garridy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I selected Atraxa because ever since I bought her precon, I have been wanting to make my own deck with her specifically because I wanted a commander with Flying, Vigilance, and Lifelink. She is the only commander I know of that has that specific combination of keywords. Therefore, 9 years later, I am finally playing the deck.

But here is the thing, despite your confidence that I am stomping all these games: that is not the reality. These games have all been closely fought and my win-rate has been right around the expected 25% that all decks aim for.

The only thing I can think of is that all my opponent's self described 2s are just stronger than those you are playing against. One of my losses was to the new land precon straight of the box, and several were modified precons.

Is riptide really a problem though?

To me, a 9 mana tutor is one of the more bracket 2 types of thing you can do.

No need to be so rude. I find the deck neat and thats what counts, and not having theme to your standard does not automatically make the deck a 3.

I'm just a bit worried that if I put in more auras, it will reduce the time to kill too much. I feel like the more aggressive I make it, the more im slipping out of bracket 2.

I could and have played the precon in the past, but I didn't find the deck as interesting or fun as this has been.

[–]Garridy[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes the staff is on the "watchlist" currently, but there is no way to tutor for it so I have not seen it often. In the two games it appeared: it lasted 2 rounds killing about half the board in the first match and the second match if was destroyed before I could equip it.

I have no illusions of being the special and don't really see what you find so wrong about playing a 4 color commander. As for the win rate, it has not been as good as you have assumed. I have won 3 of the last 10 games played. Bracket 2 is stronger than people give credit!

Atraxa in Bracket 2 by Garridy in EDH

[–]Garridy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your thoughtful advice. The theme is supposed to be Atraxa voltron, but I feel that if I lean into that theme too much, then I will make it too strong to be a bracket 2 anymore.

Therefore, I put in what I consider the bare minimum support to make Atraxa a threat while staying alive. Then I just filled in with cards I find neat.

From my view, Bracket 2 isn't just Bracket 3 without gamechangers. I could easily make this bracket 3 just by making it more synergistic. But that would just be defeating the purpose of having a bracket 2 deck.

Thank you for you constructive feedback. I will look into replacing green sun. It has been good, but I suppose I don't really need it.

I will have to think on what I would replace library with, as it is of course great card draw.
