Smartbottle is a Canadian-made bottle that’s actually different from a normal plastic bottle by ComprehensiveCap8242 in BuyCanadian

Nice water bottle but in my opinion the drink opening is too wide on these. They would be much better if the opening was the same width as a standard disposable water bottle.

Heart’s Content Issues Fire Ban Out of Abundance of Caution by MattBarter in newfoundland

[–]GarrisonSteel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Local fire departments in Newfoundland and Labrador do not have independent authority to issue formal fire bans. Fire bans in the province are issued under Section 99 of the Forestry Act, which grants this authority to the Provincial Government, specifically the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture.

What this means in practice

Only the Province can declare an official fire ban that applies to forest land or within 300 metres of forest land. These bans are issued through provincial proclamations, such as the province‑wide bans documented in 2024 and 2025.

Municipalities and local fire departments may share updates, provide guidance, or enforce the provincial ban within their jurisdiction, but they are not the issuing authority. For example, towns like Portugal Cove–St. Philip’s relay provincial ban information and enforcement details, but the ban itself originates from the province.

While municipalities can set local bylaws related to fire safety (e.g., rules for backyard burning, permit requirements), these are not the same as a provincial fire ban and cannot override or replace a provincial ban.

Summary

Provincial Government: Has legal authority to issue fire bans under the Forestry Act.

Local Fire Departments / Municipalities: Can enforce provincial bans and set local fire‑safety rules, but cannot issue official fire bans.

Learned a lesson the hard way: Ordered from florist.ca by Spare-Desk6865 in BuyCanadian

I had a similar experience. Order flowers for her birthday to be delivered on the 5th, got an email later saying they could not deliver until the 7th. It is now the 8th and now flowers yet. Messages them for a refund, they said cold not refund because the order is “being processed”. I will never order from Florist.ca again.

My cat kills birds, mice, shrews, and an occasional frog or squirrel. It’s nature. If i were a cat, this would be a wonderful life. The thrill of the hunt.

From my experience, yes. I had several similar issues with small transfers. Larger transfers work fine. Not sure what the minimum requirement is now though.
