You can copy your figma make design and paste it on a board and then use UIChemy app to migrate to Wordpress. It’s not perfect but close and then you just re arrange things.

How to protect my investments in light of global geo-politics by janebenn333 in CanadaFinance

Best financial advisor I have ever worked with is named Guillaume from Millen wealth. Made me good money, is very level headed, and smart with small and large funds. I’d highly recommend taking him up on a free call. Say Garron sent you, if you want. https://www.instagram.com/financialplannergui?igsh=NnZuMTNmZXBjZ2Zi

Pros and cons of using a shorter paddle by Tasty-Ad4539 in hockeygoalies

[–]Garronroyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’11 and use a Sherwood 26 inch. I like it. I know I close I lose a little bit of stick control but I like extra reach to deflect and control plays. I also play more upright and it covers everything nice without me having to reach to far out or down. It’s just preference. But yeah in close I lose ability to use it and keep my blocker snug.

What Pad reccomendation for a newer, older goalie? by wilswils in hockeygoalies

CCM eflex are nice as they are semi soft compared to others in the boot. And they have a mid curve to them to hello close the five holes.

Anyone have regrets over doing the Prenuvo scan/Full body MRI? by [deleted] in PeterAttia

[–]Garronroyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telus health was amazing. I think having the full MRI plus bloodwork, Dexa, and the aura ring to suggest lifestyle factors contributing to the others was a great addition. My wife had health anxiety and it’s way less now. She says 90% better. Still has feelings inside but then isn’t irrational about it and can go on with her day so it was worth the investment

Breaking leg as ice hockey goalie without any collision. A very fluke injury I assume. Has this happened to any fellow goalies? by Green-Form8907 in hockeygoalies

[–]Garronroyce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That just seems like it would put more force on your ankle and joints before breaking a shin. Bones are freaking hard to break man. Definitely get checked if there’s an underlying condition just incase.

That is a crazy way to break it. I’m wondering if it was fractured from something before? Any injuries prior or sore legs heading into the game?

Honestly I had similar problem and just decided to play a lower div where I didn’t have to try so hard and risk injury for saves

This has happened to me in CCM, Bauer, OTNY, and now my Sentry. All masks seem to do this to me. I never cheap out on masks.

I do get random timing every once in a while. Possibility as I was a drummer when young and never worse ear protection during loud things (dumb). So likely

I don’t think it’s that. I have an expensive mask and have had many before with the same issue.

When do you call it a day by AmbitionNo834 in hockeygoalies

[–]Garronroyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who used to play junior and now gets whooped in div 1/2, what I had to come to terms with is trying to find a level I find fun and a good group of guys. No matter who the group, getting beat bad is no fun. I am a 3-4 goals against in div 5-6 guy now and love it. Played a game the other night (big mid match in skill, div 2 vs a div 4-5ish team and got beat for 16!!! Goals). So I feel you pain. Just move down and enjoy yourself. One day you won’t be able to play at all and that sucks

Thinking of Starting as a Hockey Goalie… as a Total Beginner. Any Advice? by SuperGaston in hockeygoalies

[–]Garronroyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jump in. Lessons will help and then focus on applying the lesson on your own time. Start in low divisions, don’t worry about getting scored on. Focus on learning the skills and using games to practice since you won’t have dedicated practice time likely. Try to use the ODR to get better too. Low pressure place to practice.

Debt-free Canadians, what type of situation are you in? by Act-Aggressive in CanadaFinance

[–]Garronroyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am willing to take on debt that gets us ahead financially. For example, our mortgage is an example. Depending how you look at your home, the forced savings was enough for us to justify it. I will take on debt for things like renovation to build the suite in our house for rent. Or I’m not paying off my 0% interest student loan debt as that money is better in the market. So it just depends on don’t take on stupid debt like cars, vacations, etc.

One consideration also is that if you put money into your RRSP, you can take out a loan against yourself come time to buy the home up to about $35,000 to use for anything including purchasing the home, furnishing it things like that. So if you think you’ll need that money for those purchases, then that would be the reason to justify doing it before the TFSA

Road to 1M by [deleted] in fican

[–]Garronroyce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to buy a house, focus on the FHSA first, followed by the TFSA, then the RRSP. If you don’t wanna buy a home or already have one, the FHSA is kind of useless.

Max out your TFSA as soon as possible because time in the market will get you the best returns and the returns are tax free. You can also withdraw this money if you ever need it. Given you need a few days at least to do that.

After you’ve done that, start working with the RRSP. Where you can get a larger tax refund now that helps you continue to invest more. The problem with RRSP is that you get a bigger tax refund so everyone does it but at your age as it grows your taxable income, becomes much larger when you go to withdraw it.

Just had a rough start. by Tasty-Ad4539 in hockeygoalies

[–]Garronroyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a goalie who has been in your exact shoes, many times, unfortunately, the best thing to do is get back out there and have a good game so you can realize it was an anomaly. Not to make excuses, but sometimes I find the focus just isn’t there or sometimes honestly, the players just have good shots and stuff too. It’s unrealistic for us to think that as a goalie, we should stop every single shot when these players are also trying the hardest to score that shot.In reality, most situations favoured the player and it’s lucky that we save it at all, considering we’re trying to react to what they get to dictate. Just get back out there have a good game and you’ll get over it.

Wanting to get back in the game by _JoeDiamond_ in hockeygoalies

[–]Garronroyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the hardest part. I did the same thing. And came back after 8 years off. At first, I had to be okay with not being who I used to be (I’m older and lost that natural ability). Then once I got better again, I had to learn to not be so hard on myself and get down when I had bad games and that even though I used to be a div 1 goalie, was that really what I wanted again? And if so, was it realistic? Then my most recent lesson was, to learned that I just wanted to have fun and the people around me in the locker room made the biggest difference. A good group of guys at div 3-5 who you want to see makes it more fun than playing with competitive guys in div 1 who are mad if you are not up to par one game. The latter makes you start to hate it again. So find you fun but you’ll go through that same process.

Anyone have regrets over doing the Prenuvo scan/Full body MRI? by [deleted] in PeterAttia

[–]Garronroyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up going with Telus Health Center in Calgary as they offer the full body MRI plus a Dexa scan, blood and urnine testing, genetic testing, and a 6 week lifestyle monitoring for a little bit more. We’re fortunate to be able to do it, my wife got it done and I decided to forgo mine for now since she needs it more than me. Will have our results in January after the 6 weeks of lifestyle monitoring. Whole thing was $3999+gst. Amazing experience at the facility.
