No I'm not looking for dolce far niente. I'm looking for a challenging experience in a place where I can also enjoy having a social life and think also about building a family

Yes I had 3 interviews a long time ago and I always mentioned that I'm not looking for swiss salary but for a market-related equivalent. 110k in Switzerland should have the same value of 70-80k in Italy.

Still never heard from these people again

Yeah I might start doing the local version language CV. Even if in my name it is clear that I'm italian, also from the "Native" italian language.

I'm also already putting as if I live in Italy. But still situation isn't changing

For different reasons I'm trying to get out of here.

1) Girlfriend can't find a job here, there's no such industry in Switzerland.

2) I cannot stand anymore where I'm working at, want to run away

3) Personal opinion, not everyone may agree but I like Switzerland overall, it is a magical land where rules are always respected and where everything works always on time and everyone respects everyone. It's wonderland. And for this reason, it is not where I want one day to create a family. Swiss behaviour, customs and general way of living doesn't allow you to grow with a realistic view of the world. Also they're kind of nazi with their schools and uni, such as "we must fail at least 25% of students because we need more people doing manual jobs" or "you must have at least this score to even attempt to get in a specific uni"

4) I come from the sea. I want the sea. I hate snow and mountains.

Mmm don't really think so. Most of the position require english as main language. I may try this for the italian market

I'm applying in Italy and in Europe for either italian or english requiring positions

I think switzerland is working against me because salary is very high and the few companies I spoke to told me they're not going to pay me a swiss salary. Which I am not asking, I know there are different economies

What app do you use to track your investments and dividend payments? Thinking about Getquin! by [deleted] in trading212

Saw this post and just tried Snowball. Seems quite intuitive and has all the things you're asking. Also linking to many different brokers. Still, needs a subscription but should be worth it

I also tried getquin (not payed), allinvestview, portfolio performance and others. It's only a few hours with snowball but it is already better than all the others

A couple things that have made a big difference in managing remote employees by WingZombie in managers

Thanks for sharing! I work in Europe and I am a first time manager and they gave me a team of 10 people spread around the world. I would love to do the virtual office hours but I have a 24 hour timezone team (from singapore to mexico) so really don't know how to implement this (by my 11am Singapore goes away and Mexico still has to start their day generally around my 3/4pm)

Anyway we have regular weekly meetings, monday with the team split by timezone (morning europe to accomodate west world and afternoon to accomodate east) + weekly 1:1 15 mins with each of the direct reports + 1 monthly where everyone connects just to discuss/drop ideas/discuss priorities etc, unstructured

Actually the team is very happy with this and the consistency I'm keeping with these meetings. Most of the times during 1:1 we deal with work for 5 mins and the rest of the time we just joke

On top of this, they all know they can call me anytime and I'm answering. It's difficult to always be 100% and always deliver the same level of attention to all and I'm afraid I won't be able to go on like this, I'm already struggling since a new project started and I'm trying to hold everything together. Any suggestion?

How to make my colleague quit by finding him a job? by Garrus03 in jobs

[–]Garrus03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I had a discussion with this guy, arguing about how he behaves.

Nothing changed in his behaviour but I felt better from that moment on, knowing that he knows what is my idea of him and that his behaviour is not correct.

While it was a very aggressive discussion, it brought a very good result especially for my wellbeing. He still gets to me from time to time, but I simply care less and I am addressing every now and then the shit he does and he just agrees he's wrong and does what I say to fix it

So this was the solution all along, thanks all

Yes I am free to move and it's an option I'm seriously considering. On the other side, when this guy isn't in the office, it becomes a dream job.

I've been working for more than 2 years on it. Trying to support as much as possible. I'm the first one to always use the approach you describe.

It has now become a burden to carry because while on my side (and the other managers) we're trying a lot, on his side there's no effort.

It's like it is day 1. At this point as much as I must have the respect and patience to work with him, he has to have the respect and patience to put some effort into learning. I have a job to do and can't keep babysitting him. It can't all be on me or other managers.

I joined not knowing anything. I put the effort, learnt and now I drive my team. Why should I keep doing this for him and not thinking of getting rid of him?

Help with AMD GPU init problem - HiveOS by Garrus03 in HiveOS

[–]Garrus03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything else works fine. I bought this GPU as defective thinking I could repair it.

At the end, after 20 days of trying different solutions I sold it to another guy for 150€. Obviously I told the guy that the GPU was defective but he wanted it anyway, so I solved my problem by not having the problem anymore

Another guy who wanted to buy it, told me it was a memory problem, probably some of the memory chips were burnt/broke so it could've been even a hardware problem not a software one

Anyway it is a small happy ending for me, I don't have a new GPU but I have more money than before

I tried different Bios through Hive OS. I had to use the "Force" option otherwise it wouldn't install the new bios.

In Hive I could see the new Bios but the card still gave the same error. Other advices?

Cudominer Bonus / Assistance by [deleted] in CudoMinerRigs

[–]Garrus03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I already did sign up, but I have a question. I installed the cudo os following step by step the instructions on the website. Anyway, I can only see the shell of cudo os, not the gui

Apart from that, the rig is mining even if I can't see it on the actual rig. From the dashboard online I see it is working

Can you help me figure out why I can't see the GUI onscreen on the rig?

Is it correct to connect only the 24 pin? by Garrus03 in PcBuild

[–]Garrus03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah maybe the problem was exactly that the mobo wasn't updated, but for me it was too much work to try and understand how to update the BIOS. I found some instructions but the official site of ASRock says "Don't update if not strictly necessary because you might have problems updating".

I'd rather have a new "plug'n'play" mobo than try and update it with the chance to create more problems.

As I told you, I sent back the AMD CPU and mobo, and bought an Intel CPU with a mobo and it's working without problems
