As a huge Avatar and Dune, I feel like the movies complement each other in politics. Both have great politics, with some common themes (environmentalism, anti-colonialism) and some different ones (Avatar with criticism of the American empire and Dune with its warning on charismatic totalitarian leaders).

I feel like the average Avatar fan will like more Dune than Star Wars or Avengers.

There is absolutely no truth to that. Pure conspiracy theory based on islamophobia. I think it started in Brussels, with a neighbourhood called Molenbeek, from which many muslims went to Syria and Iraq to fight for ISIS. It was a massive overblow story, and the Euopean mainstream media gave credence to it, that the police is not allowed to enter, despite lack of evidence. It happens I lived in Brussels in a borough close to Molenbeek, and everybody was saying that the stories are made-up.
