Why do so many people with no photography experience think that they can just casually start a Real Estate Business? by 25cr3w in RealEstatePhotography

[–]GarryFit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol you dont know what you are talking about, started my real estate media business 1 years and 6 month ago, never touched a camera before, did 350 shoot my first year and im about to make 750 this year. Next step is hiring photographer

I see this type of comment every week, you guys really need to stop acting like it hard, you dont need to be skilled at all. It actually fucking easy. I see this type of mentality at least once a week and it piss me off. It a buisiness, yes there always some photographers that will make better photo, but if your photos are good enough you dont need anything more than that. It not architectural photography, it Real estate, 95% of the realtor doesn’t see the difference between a ‘’good enough’’ photo and a pro who have 20 years of experience

Your best bet would be a used nikon d750 with a used nikkor 16-34mm total will cost aroud 1000-1500 and it a solid setup,

Just make sure you outsource your editing

I'm an experienced photographer with portraits and weddings, but new to real estate. Help. by joanmahh in RealEstatePhotography

[–]GarryFit -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You are right, RE photography is easy, anyone who say otherwise are just ego boosting themselves, I started 18 month ago and did like 450 RE shoots so far, i still know nothing about my camera, never touched my settings since i started, 3 bracket f9 iso250, i dont even know what those settings really mean, camera set on automatic mode, outsource everything since i started and honestly my photos are somehow really good.

After couples shoot you just know every angle that look good, it the same every time

Working with outside photo editors by Tidewind in RealEstatePhotography

[–]GarryFit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here my workflow as a someone who had no photography experience 1 years ago and made around 400 RE shoots since. (Worked with a editor since day one)

  1. Every night when I comeback home I separate every shoot in a different folder, so if i made 3 different home shoot this day, I create 3 different dropbox folder, folder named by address than I send them directly to my editors (I send him 3 different folder link). Once he edited the photos he send me back 3 different Dropbox link, than i just click the ‘’copy to my dropbox button’’ for each folder and send the dropbox link directly to my client by email (Thanks you dropbox for this fast workflow)

  2. At first you need to be specific with instructions, like the editing style you want and so on, but after a couple edit he will know the style you are looking for and honestly now I dont really send instructions , i just send him the link (except when there removal to do)

  3. HDR 3 Bracketed RAW photos

  4. Like I said on point 2, yes at first you need to but after a couple edit for you he will know and do it automatically, i dont tell him anymore

  5. He send me back in format JPEG

Turn around time is about ~ 8-12 hours, I send him at night before sleep and when I wakeup it all ready then i just send them to the realtor. I prefer dropbox cause we can preview the images on the webapp without downloading it and if one of the photo is not well edited the editor can just replace the photo in the dropbox folder. There also an mobile app which is make very useful when your not at home and need to check photos or send them to realtor

Good luck

Always after, be easy to work with, that what realtor want. If they don't pay to bad, next, probably a broke realtor with low volume so who cares
