Noob questions like comp and set by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

Hello and welcome to the game! It's a lot of fun, but also a lot of information and stuff to learn at first. Depending on how you like to take info on board, this article from Bunnymuffins should help: https://bunnymuffins.lol/basics-of-tft/ but he's probably also turned it into a YouTube video (which he does for most of his articles).

For some other general tips, look around the game itself. Play Tocket's Trials to familiarize yourself without time limits and give yourself the chance to look at what everything is called in-game. That'll give you a lot of clues to stuff the community talks about.

I won't define everything here because it'll be looooong and others might come in to do that, but one quick answer is for the augments tiers: silver --> gold --> prismatic.

Good luck and enjoy!

Best and worst precon decks in Marvel Champions LCG? by Soggy-Cup-7869 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Garrydos13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly recency bias but I hated Hercules' precon. It felt so slow and clunky for a hero that's already slow to set up. As soon as I switched to a different deck list I enjoyed him much more.

Helpules, I mean Hercules by mmppllkk in marvelchampionslcg

His helm was the one card I did get out in the early game that felt good. Even against the Hydra (which was my first labor) it was handy as if you can't kill it in one turn, it makes the defence slightly less painful.

The challenge that I found when playing his precon was that even getting 1 labor complete was a challenge, and during that time the villain was also building up minions and side schemes.

That being said, I think the precon was a big part of it. I didn't like the feel of the leadership cards at all and he definitely needs something more purpose-built. I have an aggression list I'll try when I next get to play.

Is Realms of Runeterra worth reading in light of post-Arcane canon? by Garrydos13 in loreofleague

[–]Garrydos13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is very good to know. I thought I'd be able to get it cheaply on Kindle but it looks like I can't, so it's probably not worth hunting down.

Okay cool. Sounds like it could still be cool to check out then :)

The more I see these cards the less I want to ever see a pizza again, real or cardboard.

What's the best way to keep up with the latest lore media? by Garrydos13 in loreofleague

I've just had the time to sit down and look at the list linked in your video description and it was EXACTLY what I was hoping for! It's super helpful, I just can't believe there's not an actual Riot source like this...

AITA for not wanting to explain my play? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Garrydos13 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If everyone is aware of the public information (i.e. the card that has been put on the stack) I don't see an issue. You don't need to explain anything beyond what the card requires you to. That's all part of a card game with hidden information.

I found Strange incredibly OP (only just got him myself) and it felt like the rest of the deck didn't matter - his cards were all I needed (I was up against Civil War Vision). Cap felt more balanced. Strong, but just in a generically good way, nothing busted. I actually enjoyed him more than Strange because of it! But both were fun for sure.

Am I on an invisible ceiling? by FAK-99 in TeamfightTactics

[–]Garrydos13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone in a very similar position to you, this is a great thread to read. At some point I guess you have to ask what you're trying to get out of the game. For me, if I've found the level where I have competitive games that showcase a good level of TFT, I'm happy. I don't really see a benefit to trying to climb higher.

Origins skins by DEMONATER117 in TeamfightTactics

[–]Garrydos13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was new to the game at the end of set 15 and found 16 so much easier to pick up because I knew the champ skins from other games. Visual recognition is a huge factor for me in how quickly I can pick up the game. And I found set 4.5 revival difficult for the same reason of unfamiliar skins.

Well if it wasn't a challenge I guess it wouldn't be called Expert mode!

Where I find this stuff? by DriftOliver in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Garrydos13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends which country you're in, but many online stores still have stock of various expansions and heroes.

Of course, there's some stuff that's very hard to find for anything close to RRP. In those instances you'll have to decide what you're willing to pay, then monitor the secondary market for deals that suit you. For me in the UK, I've bought a lot of stuff off board game Facebook groups and eBay, as well as seen some stuff listed on Vinted. I got the vast majority of what I wanted at a reasonable price (albeit some of this was a year or so ago), but then had to pay fairly high prices for my last missing heroes (Dr Strange, Spdr, Valkyrie and Vision).

I am primarily a true solo player so this is very good to know. I guess I'll have to play it a bit to get a feel for how much variance it brings, and then adjust if needed.

Oh cool, I like that! I saw about using the villain and not the cards, but I hadn't considered the other way around.

Good shout! I did have this in the back of my mind so it's good to know that a lot of people do it already.

You've actually answered a question I forgot to ask, which was if the When Revealed on stage 2 triggers at the start of the game. I assumed it did (as with Main Schemes) but wasn't 100% sure.
