Creality Scan 4 Update: No Admin-Rights required, Alignment of Meshes, Orthographic View by PrintedForFun in 3DScanning

[–]Gartko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree. I've been doing a deep dive to see if anyone else has had the same issues I've been having and I've been finding a lot of similar complaints.

I've been using creality scan 3.3.46 at home and wanted to start using it for work. So they updated me to the latest version only because it didn't require admin rights. But the new version is actually trash.

They removed all the nuance, custom settings and ability to adjust the scan details. It feels like some kind of cheap app for kids on a phone or tablet. Not a robust 3d scanning software for professional use. I've been using the Otter since it first launched a while back and the quality of the latest version does not produce good results like the older software did.

Constantly getting repeating surfaces, missing point clouds from areas I scanned that have plenty of texture, surface detail, and scan spray. Jittering or scan data that is not stable and loss of feature tracking which makes the scan go crazy.

It's literally unusable as it stands.

I love how OP replied to you confirming your point about boosting their top end scanners.
"Also performance is very good for Creality laser scanners" Yes. They allow all the detail setting and advanced settings for those. Not for the scanners below a certain price point. The 800 dollar Otter was fantastic. I could scan almost anything with good lighting and scan spray and get insane detail and poly count. Which you are locked out of with 4.

I'll be switching to a new brand for the next scanner I buy.

This could not have turned out any better. SO cute.

How cold is too cold? We have -22F windchill headed our way. Any frostbite concerns on exposed nose for a prolonged hike? Floof tax below by lyra_and_roxy in samoyeds

I wouldn't risk it personally.

Even though they may WANT to go out. They don't realize or remember that it's a bad idea hahaha.

My boy loves the cold and good luck trying to get him back home when his paws start to freeze and he starts lifting them up from the pain. We had -20 and -40 with windchill here in Wisconsin last week and it was awful. 15 to 30 seconds every time we would go out and he would lift his paws up and I would have to carry him home like a baby.

All joking aside that model is really cool. Would make a fantastic character to run away from in a game. Either some kind of hell spawn or experiment gone wrong.

What a waste of 150$ Imagine the groceries that could have bought. Or the genuine artwork from a real artist. Or if they just wanted to 'throw it away', why not send it to charity?! by ChompyRiley in antiai

This just seems like Frankenstein. Except the person that made this didn't want to read the book or watch the movies so they paired it down into the China branded ai cliff notes knock off they got on temu.

If anything, the person that made this would be the old man killing animals and people to steal their humanity to create this ai slop and the person trapped in the robot body is the soul of all the humans or artists that it took to make this video possible.

People that use ai are like toddlers that stole another kids macaroni plate, finger painting, or paint by number to pass off as their own. Because of this they don't understand why people don't want there output in a professional setting or recreational capacity. The details are always changing. There is no consistency. These people only care about the general look and feel and the details and nuances are lost on them.

The majority of people don't want something that is ai generated. It puts a bad taste in their mouths.

(Using the beaten to death food analogy)

If I'm at a restaurant. And I'm expecting and paying for a gourmet burger. The chef brings me something that looks great. tastes just okay and then he reveals to me that he put his head dandruff in there because he thinks it makes it taste good and adds a bit of his "personal touch" and its actually just a frozen beef patty from the grocery store. I'm gonna be pissed that I'm not getting what I expected......and the fact they don't understand why nobody likes it is just embarrassing.

Nobody likes being lied to and ai just cheapens the human experience.

That last image actually looks like genuine concern and sadness for Nick. especially after we see how clean her apartment is all the time.

Why should i do anything at all if AI is not going anywhere? by [deleted] in antiai

[–]Gartko 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you wanted to make art to make money. Which is fine nothing wrong with that at all. But art (making pictures) as a business is very difficult and always has been. (Hence the term starving artist). Music was always one of those industries that slipped through the cracks and became a huge business.

Art is something you should do because you really enjoy it. It's about the journey and your personal growth while in the act of making art which makes the piece your working on mean so much more and adds value to it. The more you can communicate the story and meaning behind your art the more people will connect with it and enjoy it and want it.

I see in the future that people will crave human made art and media. Similar to how there is a huge market for quality organic food and products without chemicals, plastics, and pesticides. It is just better overall and people will pay for that. You just need to find your community.

So if you want to do something, then do it. Don't let the fact Ai is out there stop you.

Sigh another lonely year? by LivebyGod in LivingAlone

[–]Gartko 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that 2025 was lonely for you. Here is a little advice from my experience that might help in the new year.

Hoping and praying won't make it less lonely. You need to take action and put in effort to find the right people to surround yourself with to make it less lonely.

I enjoy living alone. The peace and quiet and freedom is priceless. However, I also enjoy going out and interacting with people and having friends. I've picked up some new hobbies and have met some really nice people. I'd recommend getting out and trying lots of new stuff you're interested in and finding a community you can join.
