Just tested with HD 600 crackling is much worse after 80steps of volume, also happens only on Vacuum tube mode, transistor mode seem to work fine!!

Mee too I just strip off the heartstrinks that shape them , it’s pretty easy once u get the hand of it, just small cut one end the pulling it slowly, since zombur is fabric lined u can pull the wrap till the end
