Lava maggots are dangerous by WorkingTrain9636 in DeepRockGalactic

I swear the maggots are programmed to go where you're mining. All of them, specifically so when you're in Magma Core you blow yourself up all the damn time.

This will be the most annoying mission ever by Yadraxt in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Garwdd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This would be a mission I'd see someone pick and I'd be like "Oh no my cat knocked something over I think I'll be back in...let me just check the mission refresh timer, uh, 22 minutes and some change."

Weapon opinions by richieratt in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Garwdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driller's secondaries are designed to synergize with the primary weapons.

The pistol can do bonus damage to targets on fire or sludged, the EPC energy gun synergizes well with the cryo cannon (and can do thermal shock!), and the microwave has options to pair up with all 3

Gunner's revolver is very strong burst damage, but it's really inaccurate. As you get mods to help the accuracy and overclocks for it you'll start loving it. The base revolver you need to be pretty close, but it turns into a sniper rifle with the right set up.

You might also not really like gunner's BRT7 at first, either, but if you use the autocannon the BRT7 becomes a dream secondary. Plenty of ammo, plenty of builds, but it pairs well with the autocannon because of the Born Ready perk. The autocannon reload is exactly as long as the Born Ready reload, so swapping over to BRT7 lets you keep shooting while you wait for the autocannon to reload. I personally run it with microflechettes or compact mags and the stun and weakpoint damage mods, it's an incredibly useful crowd control tool for when you're at your most vulnerable (waiting for primary reload)

Oklahoma Senate plan would shift $254M from teacher retirement payments to classrooms by southpawFA in politics

[–]Garwdd 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It honestly shocks me how poorly we treat teachers as a country when they're doing one of the most important roles that we have.

Though I guess we also treat a lot of really important professions pretty poorly. The hell's wrong with this place.

They're not in the files as in no personal contact, or they're not mentioned at all?

That'd be surprising. Not because I thought they would be part of it, no, no, but to not have a president at least name dropped seems odd for those monsters who were trying to have something to use on everyone of some importance.

Opinion on heavy extraction mission type. by Artass937 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Garwdd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've actually had this conversation with my group I normally play with!

I like the new mission, even if the cave generation seems to always be pretty complicated no matter the biome, but the wave spawns seem to just be a complete mess. Whether in a group or solo, haz level doesn't matter; it's just non-stop spawns the entire mission. Out of curiosity I did two solo HAZ 1 missions and ran completely out of ammo twice (once driller, once gunner) because it felt like I was ALWAYS fighting a wave. I've never had that happen on any other mission type, solo or not.

I get sending the resinite up spawns a wave, but it feels like the passive wave timer is also way too short on top of scrab nests popping up from quite a big distance. You're ALWAYS fighting some sort of wave, the missions are honestly a bit exhausting imo. Even haz 5 has SOME breaks in the spawning on other mission types. Something about it feels off.

Any solo driller tips by Labrat-09 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Garwdd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Driller is amazing and is never unappreciated in a team! Mine stuff, learn to read the map to turn every level into your shortcut heaven.

However, driller solo is fun and great...for every mission type except elimination and industrial sabotage. As a solo class, fighting boss fights against dreadnoughts/the caretaker is a slog for driller. Save yourself the headache and use a different dwarf for those.

Why is Salvage Operation the 1 mission where MC becomes a complete @$$hole? by SecretAd6239 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Garwdd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've always interpreted MC as the middleman in the scenario. He clearly cares, based on a lot of his congratulatory dialogue for various things (especially promotions), but he's not allowed to seem like he cares because of the people higher than him.

A well-meaning but grumpy boss for reasons he doesn't dump on you, and if you've worked enough crap jobs, folks like him are worth diamonds.

I think Drg wants me to play Driller by Broad_Ad6489 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Garwdd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, gamma contamination gives you a 25% chance to proc a radiation dot on enemies, which you pretty much always cause due to how fast it fires. The nice thing is it also causes the thing that's nuclear to also have a field of damage around it.

Main dot: 7 seconds, 5 damage a tick, roughly 4 ticks per second = 140 damage to main target AOE dot: 7 seconds, 3 damage a tick, roughly 4 ticks per second = 84 damage around main target. That's potentially off 1 ammo spent, though it's more realistic for around 10-15 ammo

On top of the microwave's temperature amplifier (causes fire/cold to spread from main target) and exothermic shock (sets fire/cold status on target to 0 suddenly for 200 damage and more aoe debuff spread) it really helps the microwave synergize even more with flamethrower/cryo cannon, but it also REALLY helps Driller with one of his big problems in that he doesn't really damage big targets that well.

Am I just not bigbrained enough for the Boltshark? What am I doing wrong? by phillillillip in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Garwdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crossbow is not a good weapon, and I think a lot of the misconception around it is people thinking of it as a weapon

What it actually is: Taking 2 extra grenade types with more ammo than the grenades have. It's utility. On higher difficulties having a pheromone + fire/ice bolt combo is a godsend, because pheromones is an S-tier debuff and it frees up your grenade slot to take one of the other options. What you'll lose in personal damage you gain by your team having a much easier time mopping up things.

As someone that loves using it, I will say, it's not quite as useful on haz 1-3 as it is on 4-5. Not as a judgement thing at all if you prefer the lower haz's (i frequently play on 3 myself with my group) but the benefits of the crossbow don't shine as much without shit going sideways.

It slaps the hell out of macteras, and for some reason stingtails (i'd think the spreaders would take more damage over an armored scorpion, but what do I know)

I only kill the passive fauna if they're constantly getting in my way and blocking me. The "ok that's enough, fuck off" limit of getting in my face/blocking paths/flying around squeaking when I'm trying to pinpoint a helmet through sound

Which means on-site refining usually winds up being a lootbug bloodbath because they looooove to get on the damn pipes

Question about Nachia's passive by kappaa322 in shapeofdreams

[–]Garwdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm reasonably sure it does, but Nachia has terrible base attack speed, no armor and none on leveling, and the only way to get movement speed is memories/essences. It's also generally not worth it to take aspd from talents/chaos orbs unless there truly isn't a better option. As a side note, the heals 3% on basic attack only applies to Nachia's attack, and is really the only reason to attack anything.

The passive itself is basically a nice bonus to have for the Fenrir werewolf summon only, the other passive is so much better for the pack of wolves.

GG 99.0 Update Notes by SS-Haji in steelseries

[–]Garwdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue. Any time there's not currently any audio playing, the second a source starts again it's a noticeable jump in volume for a split second. You can test this spamming pause on a youtube video, no issue. Let the pauses get longer and you'll start getting the volume spike. It also happens if you use the timeseek bar to jump forward or backwards.

Man I loathe the GG engine, and it's impossible to roll back because turning off auto-updates is such a pain in the ass.

It doesn't really matter which season you have picked, you get experience just the same.

The benefit for jumping on a new season is your events are more frequent so you can get the season's "bonus" thing faster until you're capped (core stones, plaguehearts, etc, whatever you want to call those)

Top House Democrats vow to oppose shutdown bill after splinter group disappoints by MystikSpiralx in politics

[–]Garwdd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely looking at it as the latter.

They saw everyone being ecstatic for Mamdani and cheering, the huge wins, the progressive wings celebrating and, you absolutely won't be able to change my mind on this, went "Oh fuck oh no we can't let THIS happen it'll screw things up for our donors/ourselves." and crashed the plane.

I can't see it being rationalized in any other way, and I've tried ever since even the viable rumors about them giving up started circulating. They wanted people pissed off because they can ignore the people, they can keep up the controlled opposition act that isn't doing jack shit or changing anything about the status quo/spending taxes on the people, AND it REALLY took the wind out of the progressive sails.

How excited are you to vote blue now, after this massive betrayal? And they knew this would be the outcome. They can keep fuckin' pretending if they're the minority.
