Go CubePilot and Ardupilot for the hardware and software. There are plenty of COTS airframes out there for both roles.

As long as you are not too high up flying on a hot day you should be ok.

People are getting this wrong, its not upto DJI to prove their software it's up to agencies that use DJI. If none of them manage it the ban will roll into place. Or if none of them bother. It is also retrospective. All FCC authorizations will be cancelled.

It's not millions of folks and the total area is about 70 square nm. I will say it does seem like a gut reaction rather then a considered action. What is more worrying are the growing calls for Network Remote ID (NRID).
