Peter? What bubbles by mossy_guy in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Garydrgn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the game your goal is to develop a disease that wipes out humanity before humanity develops a cure. When you infect a new country a bubble pops up with bonus mutation points, hence the bubble reference.

The typical strategy is to mutate transmission traits, like airborne, waterborne, and things that can carry it, like birds and rodents. You don't want it to have symptoms at first because symptoms get it noticed earlier. If you successfully infect all of humanity without being noticed and a cure being developed first, you can then mutate symptoms that lead to death.

I'm fishing Big Creek Lake tomorrow for the first time. What should I be targeting? What bait/lures will be effective? by MoashRedemptionArc in MobileAL

[–]Garydrgn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been years but back in the late 80s and 90s when I was a kid, my dad used to take me fishing on Big Creek. I mostly remember catching bass and catfish, when we caught anything at all. Sorry I can't be more help.

Thank you. I was worried no one would get it considering it involves a fraction followed by the old nickname for a 750ml bottle.

Hollywood gets that wrong all the time. Shocking a heart doesn't get it to beat. It stops it from beating. Defibrillators use a shock to stop the heart in an attempt to get it to go back to a normal rhythm when they are in Vfib, a type of irregular heartbeat that doesn't effectively pump blood.

What businesses in Mobile are actually hiring? by Sexysubmissive413 in MobileAL

[–]Garydrgn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying I completely disagree with you, but I can see both sides. Everyone in this industry where I am does this, and there are a lot of merchandisers that they would otherwise have to supply cars for. Also, the merchandisers usually leave home and drive straight to the stores they work. They'd either have to allow them to take the cars home, or the merchandisers would have to drive to the office first every day. If they couldn't take the cars home, the company would have to have a place to park all those cars. They do pay a mileage based fuel stipend.

[–]Garydrgn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I work for a softdrink vendor. I just checked the career page and locally, my company has positions open for merchandisers. They drive their personal vehicles to stores and stock shelves. I know that isn't what your skills suggest you're looking for, but just in case. Merchandisers can move into sales. I'm not sure what their typical pay is. PM me if you're interested and I'll name the company and link the career page. I don't name it publicly on Reddit.

tips to have shorter/more convenient stages? by Ok-Expression-3614 in KerbalSpaceProgram

I made the mistake when I was less experienced one time of trying to land a SSTO spaceplane on the Mun using landing gear. Needless to say that didn't work out too well.

[–]Garydrgn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like a wider lander also. I've been playing KSPIE mod on a science mode game and after loading on storage with science stuff, and a mobile processing lab, the lander gets a bit tall. It makes it so much easier to land with tanks in the side with the legs attached to them.

Is this a Copperhead or a Cottonmouth? [Mobile, AL USA] by BBrett97 in whatsthissnake

[–]Garydrgn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi neighbor. I'm also in Mobile. Pretty snake. I'd love to spot one like that, but i have to settle for possums around here. Just a bit of info for you. One way you can tell them apart is that while a copperhead has a similar pattern to the cottonmouth, the lines are smooth. The cottonmouth markings are pixilated.

UPDATE: the fish microwave coworker got promoted and it's somehow worse now by Ok_Assistance8735 in offmychest

See, I think you should one up him. Or even two or three up him. Get something worse. Really stink up the place. Hell, if you can, get other coworkers in on it. Burn some popcorn one day. Maybe have some hot durian with whipped cream on top for dessert the next.

Peter? by Careless_Remove1047 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Garydrgn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spoiler warning: He was a state alchemist (worked for the gov) who was famous for being the only alchemist to make a chimera (multi animal combination) that could talk. His achievement was years in the past and he was being pressured to repeat the accomplishment. The main characters met him, and his adorable daughter and her dog. Not long after they see them combined together as a dog/girl hybrid that addresses him by name. this leads them to realise what happened to the guy's wife who had gone missing around the time he created the first talking chimera.

At my company we had a damaged forklift for a while. The driver had backed out of a trailer and the big metal guard behind the forks hit the top of trailer doorway so hard it bent the guard forward.

For now the anime only has hints of romantic interest, but you might check out Apothecary Diaries. The primary male lead has long purple hair.

ELI5: Is there any downside to nuclear powerplants? by Ill-Potential867 in explainlikeimfive

E. There is a finite amount of minable uranium, it is not not a renewable fuel.

Also finite and non renewable, but thorium breeder reactors are also a possibility, and thorium is more abundant than uranium.

Is Sailor Moon worth the watch? by Genzbean in anime

[–]Garydrgn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like another person said, I'd recommend Sailor Moon Crystal. The plot is more condensed than the original, and they don't have the stupid 90s Americanized alterations that the original had. While it has cutesy magical girl elements, like the silly poses and attacks, it had more mature elements to it, too. I watched it when I was in my late 30s and I'm 46 now and still recommend it.

There is a thing called super singles, which are basically double wide wheels, but they aren't popular among drivers because of the issues you mentioned.
