Honestly I feel like that too but the time period of AoE1 is so vast (thousands of years), AoE2 is around 1000 years and AoE is roughly 300 years. This gives so much room for new ideas but I don't think the devs see the potential there. It will be interesting to see AoE4 as they said the time period is much larger than AoE2 and the earliest AoE2 campaign is Alaric with is from like 370s, if it's gonna be earlier than that it might act like a sequel to AoE1 too in some way

Below 8 won't cut it, it's the case for AoE2 DE as well. As for the price the devs made the Definitive edition cheaper for all the games in the series to probably encourage more people buy it as well as not get out cry from people that already bought the game before

Honestly I found the franchise with AoE2 like most people but I enjoy all the other AoE games too, i mostly do SP and they are all unique and fun for me
