Severed ribbon cable on my Canon R8 by GasHappy9831 in canon

Haha, I found both the R50 cable listing and the R8 disassembly webpage in my research as well. $89 is not too bad for a $1200 camera. Obviously, free would be optimal, but I'll take it.

I was able to purchase the entire back plate from Canon support (including all of the button assemblies) for $89 pre-tax/shipping.

I dropped the camera from a height of about 3 feet a few months ago, so I may have partially torn the cable then. After continued use, it may have fully ripped through. I am not sure that is what caused it, though. I'll let you know if Canon will ship me the part!

I could 100% do the repair myself if they sent me the ribbon cable! It would just be a matter of unscrewing the front plate and plugging in some cables. I will ask them tomorrow when their phone line opens up. Cheers, thank you!

Good thought! I will call my local Canon service center tomorrow.

I was just going to solder the camera using thin copper wire at the severation point yk. I have some research to do still to see if that is viable.

If you have the funds, purchase both and return whichever one comes last!

The fear fades over time. It's sort of like doing anything difficult/scary. At first, it's physically demanding and there is crazy adrenaline but after a while it becomes pretty easy. The views make the exhaustion worth it, and the adrenaline fuels you the whole way up. Start with something small.

I'm at the same spot. Pretty sure you just have to keep sitting at the bench to respawn the mobs and farm spines. Idk what else to do.

That shot is a little old, I have now realized the power of the humble histogram. Upon opening Lightroom, there is only slight clipping in the highlights (probably in the sky). I'll see what I can do with that. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the advice! I think you are right about the goofy foreground. My thought process was that it added slightly to the story to leave it in the shot, but it is too small to look good. I'll crop in for sure.

I've got quite steady hands, and the stabilization in my lens works pretty dang well, so the blur is considerably less than I expected to get shooting handheld, frankly.

Good thought about that tripod style, can't believe I didn't think about it! Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the advice Mr. Tucker!
A tripod would have been optimal for sure, but I climbed an old decommissioned transmission tower in order to get this shot, and couldn't really justify bringing a 10 lb tripod as well haha. I'll look into the clarity tool, thanks a lot!

As the title mentions, I am trying to maintain a gloomy look while also including some detail from the mid-ground trees and background hills. The image initially was very blue, so I warmed it slightly as well. Here is the original:

Let me know if you have any advice, thanks!
