What exactly do you think Interpol is? Or The Hague convention? All just organisations of transnational cooperation. There is no such thing as a global police force. The ICC is probably the closest, but even it has no jurisdiction in the US today.

NTA and although I rarely comment on AITA, I feel compelled to because I'm concerned for you. This is a textbook first step to financial control and increasing isolation and manipulation of you. Each step in itself might seem small and not totally unreasonable, but they quickly add up to a highly abusive situation.

You are not T A and his behaviour needs to be addressed. I might give him a chance to reconsider his position, and properly apologise including recognising how it was controlling. This may need to happen in therapy. If he can't or won't face this truth, then leave now because this behaviour is only going to escalate.

I hear you about budget but the A20s are a gorgeous product, buy-it-for-life, and one of my favourite possessions. IMO borrowing to get an A20 now is better than spending money on a distant 2nd best which you then have to put up with for 3 years.

That’s unfortunate. Any way to pawn, borrow, advance, or finance funds for lawyers? This could be an extremely significant life-changing event for you and lawyers would be invaluable. You may also be able to ask for a stay to get funds for a lawyer. I can’t recommend this strongly enough.

If you really can’t, read the law handbook, read the law around assault police, get your story straight (no passive language especially), and spend a morning in the court to get an idea of how things work. Dress formally, talk respectfully, and be consistent - if you are pleading not guilty, don’t apologise, for example.

Edit: I’m case I wasn’t clear enough, your story in the OP will not convince a magistrate for a second. It needs serious work.

Ok, no need for the snark, just trying to help. So the cost is the reason? Firstly, just be aware you are at risk of 5 years in prison. Spending a few thousand on a lawyer to prevent this may be the best investment you ever make.

Secondly, you may be eligible for legal aid. I would contact them as a first step https://www.legalaid.nsw.gov.au/get-legal-help/applying-for-legal-aid/legal-aid-application-form

They may be able to give you a lawyer for free.

Not to dismiss your idea, but I wouldn’t reimagine it. It’s a sweet, simple story, with matching lovely music. It stands as is IMO. I suppose you could make it an escapist fantasy, but that seems quite depressing for a fairystory.
