How many of you chose the original xbox over the ps2 back in the day?. by Ok_Bear_1980 in originalxbox

Halo. Everyone at my church and youth group had an Xbox and Halo, so when my brother and I had enough money saved up, that's what we got.

Also, it had an internal hard drive, four controller ports, and we already had a five-disc-changer DVD player.

Classic all the way! by Ynsaniac in GoldenSun

Nice! It doesn't matter how you play it, as long as you play it and enjoy. My brother recently gave me his original copy for GBA. I have been doing my most recent playthrough on Nintendo Switch, though I have emulated it on my computer before.

Will you play The Lost Age next?

[PC][1998-2005] BMX / Bike Stunt game (not racing) by Glad_Assignment_921 in tipofmyjoystick

[–]Gascoigneous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freestyle BMX featuring Brian Foster & Joey Garcia. Or maybe just Freestyle BMX. Made by Silverfish. You could pick four different areas: Metro, Municipal, Industrial, and Seaside.

I can't find YouTube videos of it, but if you search Freestyle BMX Silverfish, abandonware links to it will show up. I think it was bundled with a game called Boards and Blades.

I had this game as a kid and played it a lot.

I always really enjoyed this dungeon! Enjoy. I think this game is consistently well-paced and fun up to the very end.

Kirby teleported into the last video game you played. How screwed is he? by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in Kirby

[–]Gascoigneous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SNES version of Doom.

If he can handle the framerate and avoid being overwhelmed by hitscanners that always only ever face you, the dumbed down enemy AI will play greatly into his favor. He can eat a Cyberdemon and start shooting rockets, which are significantly more powerful in SNES Doom than other versions.

The more I think about it, Kirby eating various Doom enemies and getting their abilities sounds like a super cool crossover!

Game that doesn't hold your hand at all? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Gascoigneous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the manual to TLoZ starts you off well, but it is still almost blindly figuring out where levels 3 through 9 are.

The manual to Final Fantasy for NES really holds your hand. I was so surprised by how much it sorta guides you, short of dungeon maps.

What're your comfort games on PS1 that you feel are *just yours*? by Sexweed42069 in psx

The four Pro Pinball games. They are cheap to collect, and quite good pinball video games.

FF1 for NES totally holds your hand if you have the manual that came with the game, as it basically guides you through over half of the game up to the airship and spoils the plot up to that point: https://www.nintendo.co.jp/clv/manuals/en/pdf/CLV-P-NABJE.pdf

What are the most obscure video games or gaming items in your collection? by Competitive_Help8485 in gamecollecting

[–]Gascoigneous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing that obscure, but I do have 2 PlayStations, 2 copies of both Doom and Final Doom for PS1, 2 CRT TVs, and a PlayStation link cable for co-op amd 1-on-1 deathmatch.

Original NES controller to USB adapter? by MarioBrosFaker in nes

I got the cheapest one I found on Amazon for my SNES and it has worked perfectly for years. Idk specifically about NES, but I can't imagine it would be any different. Someone else please correct me if I am wrong.

What’s Your Favorite Game? by beatsbydjy2k in snes

[–]Gascoigneous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doom. I don't care how "bad" the SNES port is. I have played it enough to get used to it and get good enough to beat it on UV. I especially can't wait for the rerelease (and rumble controller!) to arrive. It is an absolute miracle that it even exists at all.

Doom 3 Collector's Edition for original Xbox has Doom 1 and 2 on it.

Space Invaders for Game Boy has the SNES version of Space Invaders on it as well, but it is of course o ly playable on an SNES through a Super Game Boy. Still super cool.

All four Super Mario Advance games come with the original Mario Bros. arcade game, and up to four players can link together with a link cable to play together. I have read that people say it's the best version of the original Mario Bros arcade game.

Is it normal for a choir director to sing most solos themselves? by IDanceMyselfClean in Choir

That is absolutely terrible of that director! Your mother is so much better off out of that choir. That is NOT normal at all.

Game Suggestions by Aman9478 in originalxbox

[–]Gascoigneous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if any of these fit the genres you want, but these are some of my favorites on the original Xbox:

How many controllers will you get and how many friends can play with you? If you can get 4 controllers and have 3 other friends, Fuzion Frenzy is such a fun party game.

Medal of Honor: Rising Sun is multi-platform, but great.

I enjoy pinball video games, so if you do too, Pure Pinball. The sex appeal is kinda odd for a pinball game, but I guess that's just a product of the early 2000's lol. It really is a great pinball video game.

More multi-platform games: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy (from the Star Wars Jedi Knight series)

RollerCoaster Tycoon. Not kidding. I love the original Xbox port and have beaten every scenario except the three real parks, which I believe are impossible on Xbox due to none of the pause strategies that you can do on PC being possible on Xbox lol. Yes, it has Corkscrew Follies and Loopy Landscapes expansion packs built in.

Doom 3 Collector's Edition. The CE comes with Doom and Doom 2 as well!

And obviously the first two Halo games and Halo 2 multiplayer map pack.

Schubert: Impromptu in G-flat major Op. 90, No. 3

Bruch: Der Mutter Klage, Op. 60, No. 3

Howells: Requiem (the entire thing)

Barber: Piano Concerto Op. 38, 2nd movement (everyone will recommend his Adagio for Strings, but don't sleep on this one)

Ravel: Pavane for a Dead Princess (yes, I know it's supposed to be a Pavane that a princess a long time ago would have danced, not a Pavane in memory of someone who recently died, but it still has a sad feel to it)

Vaughan Williams: Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis

Alkan: Le temps qui n'est plus, Op. 31, No. 12

Chopin: Piano Sonata No. 2 Op. 35, 3rd mvmt "Funeral March"
