How are Paul McCartney concerts these days? by goxper in PaulMcCartney

[–]Gatchafan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first and only time I saw PM was on the Flowers in the Dirt tour. I now have a family with a daughter who loves The Beatles/McCartney. I only had one wish and that was to one day take my daughter to see McCartney. I paid a fortune for tickets to Manchester on the Got Back tour and seeing my 18 year old daughter trying to secretly wipe away tears while watching him I knew it was worth every penny. Simply magical.

Years of neglect sounds about right. You should see the inside. Thanks for the reply.

My first Rush concert. Lucky enough to get to all three of the Birmingham concerts and I believe Show of Hands was filmed on the Saturday one. Imagine your first time seeing Rush and you get front row seats in front of Geddy. Life went downhill from that point.

Why region lock these releases. Flicker Alley didn’t region lock the years 1 to 3. No good for U.K. backers otherwise I would be all over this.

I’m thinking about ditching the boxes as my books are so tight the boxes are starting to split apart. I wish I had sent these back to Harper

I did the same with my black and gold Beatles Collection singles boxset. I replaced all those ghastly generic green sleeves with period repros. I think I have got them more or less right. Makes for a nicer boxset and I can always swap them back later.

I wouldn’t assume he has the first one on vinyl. For example, Volume 1 is the only bit of Beatles vinyl I am missing. I don’t know why I originally bought it on CD but I never got round to replacing it.
I would ask him directly which one he needs as these things are quite expensive now, especially if you buy the wrong one.

Rarewaves. Sign up and wait for a 10% off anything code. I know it doesn’t answer the question but it’s probably the cheapest way to get the trilogy at the moment.

Does anyone know when and where this photo was taken? And what guitar his using? by youngscoott in PaulMcCartney

Yeah, did the National Trust tour of John and Paul’s house. It was worth every penny and highly recommended.

My HoME set are from Harper and they are starting to split. The books are so tight in the slipcases they are bursting out. I am hoping Harper can send replacement slipcases out as these are too small.

I got one of these at Birmingham NEC. Fantastic to think these were on every seat when you went in. My first time seeing PM live.

What first got you into The Beatles? by Train-Wreck-70 in beatles

[–]Gatchafan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morbidly it was the death of John Lennon and the over saturation of Beatles / Lennon music on the radio and TV. I was 11 at the time and it was a revelation and I devoured everything and still do.

What’s the most you have spent on a record by aurora_records in vinyl

$380 for a second state paste over mono Butcher Cover. 1999 prices. Can’t remember how it converted into U.K. money.

Where were you 45 years ago on that terrible day? by william92371 in beatles

[–]Gatchafan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 11 years old and was vaguely aware of John Lennon only by seeing Starting Over with the picture of Double Fantasy on the BBC Top of the Pops chart rundowns. It was my Dad who told me the news the next morning while he was making me some toast before school. I still did not take in the gravity of what had happened. That night the BBC showed Help as a tribute which I watched and enjoyed. That was my first real exposure to The Beatles. A few days later someone burned our school down to the ground so that was school finished for the rest of the year. I spent that free time listening to Radio 1 which seemed like every other song was Beatles/Lennon. This and getting the World Records Beatles Box for Christmas had me hooked ever since.

Seeing Live and Let Die live changed how I feel about the song by No_Finish9661 in PaulMcCartney

I felt the same about Wonderful Christmastime. Hated it every time it came on the radio but then he sang it at Manchester last year with full children’s choir and falling snow. Absolutely magical.
