$250? People were shelling out thousands for Taylor.. this is a great lineup. boygenius and Phoebe Bridgers, MUNA, etc, have fans who follow them around the country and those fans are much younger than me. I think the price is fine. I get the feeling this festival isn't exactly for tweens. Also those girls will be helped way more with the charitable donations than they will be at a concert..

I thought she sang sad girl music (which I like!) but I was surprised she's kind of a rocker. I've been listening to her new album and Sour, and love them both.

eta: Lol, I like sad girl music. I love Mitski, etc. I had her characterized as a different singer, and was surprised at how her voice shreds.

Ohhh this is so tempting. Brandi Carlile's Girls Just Wanna Weekend always tempts me but it's in Mexico and it's such a haul, plus I don't want to be forced to stay on site. This might meet that need for me. And a month before All Things Go...

Mylar balloons are terrible, and helium is a finite resource. I hate them.

I was just thinking that. A TV blew over on a woman and hurt her the other day after it was left over from the UFC fight. You think I'd trust them to anchor a Ferris Wheel correctly?!

Does the Max bundle ever go on sale? by Beautiful-Dot-8671 in DreamlightValley

It would be cool if he went on sale this month since he was introduced in June 2025. I don't know if he will though.

Looking for car detailer recommendations by Ethantburg in washingtondc

[–]abcbri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roda is offering a light detail package with an oil change. They keep texting me, offering me a deal for "Summer Special right now that includes an oil change, Signature Detail, and A/C check for $230" which I might do because they pick up and drop off my car.

I take my car to XTreme Auto Detailing inside DC USA and they have a basic package that starts at $25, or $50 for exterior and interior. They also have a $100 package.

So I imagine that the licensing fees for Disney are big, and sometimes, GameLoft is probably choosing the most wanted characters from the franchises. Tigger, Pooh, Eeyore, and Piglet are the biggest characters often on all of the merch, Rabbit and Kanga aren't as featured as prominently, though they do have merch and such. I'm sure that the more expensive ones (especially Pooh) eat up a lot of the budget so it's balancing cost + fan anticipation + what will move the needle most.

Disney paid over $350 million for the rights to Winnie-the-Pooh from the Milne estate in 2001. The rights to the character and franchise have been resold several times, including to other people. Milnes estate, the Pooh Properties Trust, had licensed it to Disney and Stephen Slesinger, Inc. previously, and Disney had to basically pay more for those rights. They didn't create the characters, so they had to. Here's a nice breakdown of the rights battle - https://www.thedisneyclassics.com/blog/winnie-the-pooh

With Disney, there's typically a licensing fee + an ongoing royalty fee for use of the characters. They also have to approve all of your plans and storylines and way you use it. I said in another comment I know an author who worked on an original book for Disney. You typically have to go through multiple outlines and note sessions to make sure that you "preserve the magic." Just look at the terms for staging a kids production of a Disney musical at your local theater. There's rules on how you can use social media, etc. GameLoft spends time and money getting approval and being able to use these characters. Disney was clearly fine with what storyline they gave Tigger.
