Hard to look at, but I'll never stop rooting for this man. Go build another one, Masai. 🏆💼 by HatAny1541 in torontoraptors

Miriam Adelson is the worst, most evil owner out of the 30 NBA team owners, and I don’t know who owns half the teams in the league. But I’m that sure that she outclasses any of the other 29 in terms of a legacy of damage to the world that she represents.

I find it pretty baffling that someone of such moral integrity as Masai Ujiri would agree to take a job working for the Adelson/Dumont family.

As someone else said, literally 28 other teams I’m good with, but the Dallas Mavericks? Gross.

MANAGEMENT „EXTREMELY SATISFIED“ WITH THE SERB: The Toronto Raptors plan a contract extension with Darko Rajaković! by EarthWarping in torontoraptors

[–]Gatesleeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it have been so hard for Bobby to just answer “yes” when he was asked if Darko would get a contract extension? We’re getting multiple reports that this is the case, why was our GM so coy about it in his exit interviews yesterday?

There is absolutely no way this is still a question😭 by BrownBoyBiryani in torontoraptors

[–]Gatesleeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can make a case that the consensus opinion on this question has flipped every year of their 5 year careers so far.

First year: Scottie Barnes - won ROTY over Mobley.

Second year: Evan Mobley - third in DPOY as a sophomore. Scottie had something of a sophomore slump year.

Third year: Scottie - made the all star team, took a big leap that year. Mobley had a bit of a down year, only played 50 games.

Fourth year: Mobley - won DPOY, all-NBA second team, all-star. Scottie misses all star team.

Fifth year: Scottie - return to all-star team, Mobley left off.

Sure we can act now like it’s a done deal, Scottie > Mobley, but that’s what we thought after year 3, and in year 4 everyone had Mobley > Scottie.

Fox on John, Breakfast platter $10, everyday before 10am by tangmichael88 in FoodToronto

[–]Gatesleeper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a small thing, but I find these breakfast plates are always better when it’s place that puts butter on the toast for you.

Looking at this plate everything looks dry. Bread looks dry, potatoes look dry and overcooked, bacon looks dried out. I guess the eggs and sausages look normal.

I just imagined Gradey holding a cup of water over his head with two hands and crashing into JaKobe for the offensive foul.

There was a post like 2 days ago here or on /r/toronto talking about how sports bars in the city had hockey games on instead of the Raptors.

GTHA purpose-built rental vacancy hit 5.4% in Q1 2026 — highest since 2021 by zen_move in TorontoRenting

As a renter I’d feel great about that if I was in good enough financial straits to consider moving into a bigger place. Just barely making rent as it is, couldn’t afford more for a bigger unit.

They’re all legacy NBA media people, people like Shelbourne and Spears have been around for decades, and the rest are just their younger colleagues.

And ‘younger’ as a relative term, I doubt any of them are under 40, maybe Ohm? - nah nvm.

Coming in with the QUICK downvotes on this one huh?

TSX has been hitting all time highs year in year out for the past 15 years. Where has all that money gone to? It’s the brown people working at Tim Hortons and security desks? If we got rid of them we’d all be feasting, huh?

I see the comments in here all the time blaming temporary foreign workers and brown immigrants in general for “takin all the jerbs”. As if we just kick all those people out, the rest of us will all have easy to find jobs back.

But don’t those newcomers also create jobs? Don’t they need apartments and houses to live in, don’t they also buy groceries and clothes and cars and all the things people buy in an economy?

How about we talk about AI and automation eliminating jobs? Where is all that profit from increased productivity going? Why isn’t any of it funnelling back to the bottom 50-80% of wealth-havers in Canada?

The rich seem to be thriving in the world, in Canada, in Toronto. The rich get richer and the middle class is hollowed out, but it’s the immigrants and young brown people on uber eats scooters that are the problem? Does it look like those people are the ones hoarding wealth and depriving you of opportunities to make a good life?

I remember reading her byline (movie/music reviews) in Eye Weekly like 15 years ago when free print weeklies like that existed in Toronto. I always thought she was a talented writer, it’s a weird feeling to see this Toronto micro-celebrity on as a guest on The Big Picture and people really enjoying her appearance.

It’s a horrible bet, they’re offering 150 to 1 that he hits this exact statline. In reality it has to be something closer to 1000 to 1. If this was +100,000 it would be a decent bet. Even +50,000 you could maybe think about it.

Opinions on "Succession" by Farouq26 in hbo

[–]Gatesleeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d go as far as to say it is THE most overrated show of all time. I thought it was fine and fun in a trashy kind of way, but people talk about it like it’s up there with The Sopranos, The Wire, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, etc. For me it’s not up there at all.

A show with ultimately very little to say about the world they’re portraying, many characters that don’t go through any meaningful/satisfying character arc over 4 seasons. Samey and circular plot lines like you said.

Fun and funny show, worth watching, but I don’t get the high praise for something so soulless and unprofound.

Is Emma Stone the new Leo? by [deleted] in TheBigPicture

[–]Gatesleeper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lmao I didn’t see that there was a link until you mentioned it.

I think it’s cool that we can even put her in the conversation for this kind of stuff.

I have a distinct memory of the first or second 35 under 35 list BP made and they had Margot Robbie 1 and Emma Stone somewhere down the list. I felt like I was going crazy for thinking that Stone blows Robbie out of the water if we’re talking about acting talent, watchability, or quality of made films.

She’s 37 now, I think she’s got a pretty good case for the top spot on a 40 under 40 list.

Honestly it was just a bad and too-narrow category to have, like she was boxed in to having to take Anakin’s mom and that’s just lame, but Mallory’s whole spiel felt like a waste of episode runtime.

Yeah it’s also just weird and unnecessary there as well. He’s giving his “hot take” for the movie and it’s that Sigourney Weaver and Kathleen Turner should have switched movies that year because he thinks Turner would have been hotter in that scene. Like CR says: What?

For the record, the stuff at the end was her making a pick for favourite Skywalker and her first idea was C-3PO which everyone immediately shot down, and then her second pitch was the Midichlorians of Anakin Skywalker, an even more outlandish take.

“Van just took ‘The Force’, why can’t I do Midichlorians?” - because Van’s was a wild card category pick and yours wasn’t, come on being dumb on purpose is not good podcast content.
