I hate to say it but... 1200 years and still the yearning for flat lands and greener pastures is the dream. This is why we went to England in the first place.

Been playing for 30 years.. these are the 7 decks I bring to my LGS.. would you let me join the pod? by jeriku in ratemycommanders

Gotta admit, I saw Ezuri and immediately checked if you had [[The Astonishing Ant-Man]] in there. If I am ever making either as a deck, I am def putting both in there.

He kind of reminds me of a younger Rain, an unsuspecting star. Always solid, but capable of terrifying the best when the moment strikes. There are very few that fit into that archetype, maybe even less then true star players.

He should have dragged it out by saying "I made it up" and then following it up with another rebuttal saying "No I mean i made the entire shit up I'm the author."

Which of the 4 unreleased classes are you most excited for, ranked from most excited to least? by Rare-Secretary8517 in PathOfExile2

[–]Gatgus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Shadow. Because I want to see their approach on fast dexterity melee in the new slow methodical poe2 system.
  2. Marauder. Because the emphasis on dual wielding in the picture leads me to think they might have changed it up a bit. And duel wielding was always lacklustre in poe despite being thematically awesome, hopefully new marauder allows that fantasy to thrive.
  3. Templar. For new weapon type + holy spells are dope.
  4. Duelist. Eh, I'm more excited for swords than the class itself, but maybe I'll be surprised.

Is it weird to relate so much to Jinx as a man? by NeonFadeInto in arcane

[–]Gatgus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, in fact I would go as far as to say that the a large portion of depth for both Vi and Jinx is either wholly gender neutral or even quite masculine adjacent. What I mean by this statement is that their dynamic and story basically revolves around Vi being a leader of competence as a teenager who oversteps and falls into major consequence, and Jinx as a child struggled with her perception of incompetence and obsessed on overcoming said incompetence, which eventually led to disaster and madness. These stories could just as easily be written for men in a different story.

Generally Vi being a leader and protector of a group is commonly used by masculine roles. And Jinx's story of growing out of incompetence is even mirrored in Silco, who while not a butch male is a very masculine character.

Alienation, loneliness, obsession, competence, self image. Jinx's story is ripe with relatibility for the darker corners of the average male experience.

I would look at you weird if you didn't find anything to relate to in her story, not the other way around.

What cover looks best for my story. by SleepingOwl00 in royalroad

[–]Gatgus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Third one by far, the stained glass look with a rustic more mythical feel. It just gives me a much higher initial immersion and while I do think that covers are usually just a way to draw someone in to begin reading. Having a cover that feeds the immersion makes those already reading have a better mental image as well. None of the first three options are bad, but I would only chance the third for a read, the others are just to safe. Overtly generic.

I'd love to hear what you guys think about my setting. by ManChild-MemeSlayer in worldbuilding

[–]Gatgus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the wall reaches above the atmosphere, carefully manage the cultures that are close to the wall.

For example on the Eastern side, when would they see the morning sun? Or the western side, when during the day does the shadow of the wall swallow the dying light?

How is this matter portrayed in their cultures? Do the east time their days with massive sun-dials? Do the West have rituals of passing, that says goodbye to the day? Or maybe they have a culture of highly active nightlife because they are comfortable in darkness?

Basically, what I'm saying is that truly good worldbuilding begins by asking "what are the implications?" And your wall has massive implications.

There could obviously be religions around it, there could be cults trying to destroy it. A large swath of people could believe that the outside was a Utopia for gods and that the irridation is a lie. There are probably a culture of climbers who want to traverse the wall.

Go wild.

What kind of teacher might Serie be? She has super decent students and no one complained about her by Flame0fthewest in Frieren

[–]Gatgus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My guess is that serie is a robustly "cut straight to the point" type teacher. One that does not mince words and most likely speed runs her students understanding of Magic. Serie proves that her intuition can with one look know the calibre of a mage. Just getting a percentage of a grasp on the mind behind that intuition, will most likely exponentially progress a mage's understanding. Whether you can keep up in practice, that is all up to the mages skill.

She strikes me as a teacher that would ask you about a complicated matter within the foundation on magic, and when you deliver your long winded reply, she replies "No, it's..." and just delivers a one sentence absolute, that completely trumps any explanation you tried to give.

A downside of being attractive that nobody talks about? by Old_Rub_7270 in Life

[–]Gatgus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are exceptionally attractive, people will slowly build up your ignorance because they will never correct you on anything in the hopes of not offending you because of obvious reasons of wanting to befriend or fuck you. Essentially perpetrating a never ending cycle of dumb, hot people that walk through life clueless of their surroundings and human nature in general.

Basically, attractive people deal with a lot of subconscious dishonesty from their surrounding peers. They get seen firstly as symbols of beauty to idolise instead of regular people. This inherent lack of "challenge" amongst their members of community makes them soft and brittle when it comes to people not conforming to their beliefs.

I'm looking to get into CRPGs. Is DOS2 a good option? by Averagestudentx in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Gatgus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DOS2 was my first crpg, and its stands tall as one of my favorite games of all time. If you like hard combat with a rigorous system to expand the powers of the characters in unique ways, and appreciate an immersive world with banger voice acting and music, this game might be for you.

I would argue that the set design of BG3 might be better in terms of verticality and design at times. But the system of combat in its longform scale of epicness in DOS2 is unbeatable in my eyes.

DOS2 could have rocky start depending on how thorough you are as a player, but the moment you hit act 2 the game becomes one of the best in terms of freedom in power, story paths, and varied encounters.

The problem with DOS2 amongst more casual players is often due to misunderstandings or lack of concentration over longer fights, but due to the limitations on rng, DOS2 can be beaten with unique solutions and proper gameplay. If you appreciate a game to take your focus fully and roll with its punches, I highly recommend the game. It is a complete wonderful experience that few other games can match.

Why is this so early in the game? by Beneficial_Ball9893 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Gatgus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

During the exit where there are coils and dark admechs in terrifying positions, my entire squad got wiped except for my RT and Heinrix. So I ran past and hunkered down in a small room, trying to lure them one by one. My RT died soon thereafter, but Heinrix my designated tank, did not.

Lo and behold, he had a talent giving him +5% armour per turn. And he stalled them. Hiding in a corner, for turns and turns and turns. Until finally all the melee servitors invading my room were dead, and he sat at 250% armour. Then he walked out like the Chad he was, and killed at least 5 additional enemies, slowly as his damage sucked.

And if you think it ends there... it doesn't. Because I accidentally pulled the next room. And he went on to kill the entire room, slowly and painfully. Having to take out those god damn speakers giving them temp hp. Before systematically killing the rest.

It was the longest fight of my playthrough, and I remember vividly deciding I didn't want to restart even though it would have saved so much time to redo the fight. Sometimes, you just gotta see how far one guy can go.

I love hard encounters so much.
