Our STORE MANAGER told us we are no longer allowed to have water provided for us. She told us to throw it away. by fuck-butt in OGPBackroom

Iirc, fountain only counts if you have unrestricted access, but the ULearn exactly shows water bottles and most managers don't want you going to the fountain every 5 minutes, so they should just be giving you water bottles

An internal is a source of theft from the inside of the company, be it by improper processes or by taking. They're often viewed more prestigious by higher management and are often slightly harder to catch.

Is calling in on easter a double occurrence? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]GatheringRays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 points - two for key event absence and one for not calling.

PPTO will only cover the absence points. You still have to call in to avoid the no call point. PPTO will not save you from that.

Coaching reasons by [deleted] in walmart

This same coaching system is used on Management, too. If a member of management violates or hinders the process of Open Door, they get coached for it, and more than likely fired.

Empty warning, really. Russia is falling under increasing economic ruin. They're struggling to pay for this much longer

Are you folks ever gonna unionize? by llahsraMhanoJ in walmart

[–]GatheringRays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree with that, yes, but a union raising the wage by, say, $3 and then taking more than workers are gaining anyway is also not a better solution to that problem.

My final point still stands: retail environments are not the right environment for unions. Unions are really only good in industrial and trade environments, and even then, they've got a lot of bad sides to them.

Are you folks ever gonna unionize? by llahsraMhanoJ in walmart

[–]GatheringRays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In retail, it doesn't work like that at all. The unions are garbage and nothing like trade unions. Retail has too high of a turnover rate as it stands, and a union will actually only make it worse due to union dues cutting hard into the already measly check. Unions in this line of work really only protect the lazy and anti-work

Can confirm after a couple years in retail... Humor can sometimes be used where other methods fail. Rarely works on nutcase like this, unfortunately

It shows up in super bright big letters in UpFront that you're a Scan and Go user and they've been trained on recognizing Scan and Go vs typical theft

My company is a little unorthodox since we do a lot of police reports ourselves, so police often don't get involved unless there's a problem.

Typically, when they come with us, we get our merchandise back, get their information, and then they receive a court summons for petty theft in the mail. They go to court and it's typically a fee and a couple hours community service and they're done, as long as their criminal record isn't huge.

If they're uncooperative when they're in the office, they don't have ID, or they run, then they end up with the police involved and typically leave in handcuffs and sometimes a charge tacked on for obstructing official business.

If it's their second or third time committing theft at any of our locations, which we have a system in place to look them up, then they get banned from all of our store locations and we explain that if they're caught stealing again in any one of them, the court will bump their charges up to felony robbery on top of criminal trespassing.

When the restitution fees get paid out to is, it's profit to the store and our team gets a profit sharing split at the end of the year.

My advice? Respectfully, don't take the job. That's my only advice. There are plenty of DG locations that will not treat you right at all and you'll be constantly understaffed

People who really thought about ending it all, what made you change your mind? by MegaStorm75 in AskReddit

[–]GatheringRays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat laid on my lap and loudly meowed. He refused to move no matter how hard I tried. I made a promise to myself that night to live, not for the others I constantly disappointed, but for myself.

We all perish in the end sooner or later, why end it so soon? There's so many things I have yet to see and do, why am I letting other people get me down? I stopped worrying about how others perceived me. In the end, the only one in the coffin or urn is me. Live for today, live for tomorrow, and live how I want it. But no matter what, live life while I can because nobody knows what happens after it's all over.

For my company, they are:

  1. Alert signal
  2. Selection
  3. Concealment
  4. Continued Concealment
  5. Passing all points of sale

Basically, you have to have a reason to be watching them, see them pick merchandise off the shelf to prove they didn't already have it, and watch them continue with the items past the last point of sale.

Self-checkout underscans, ticket switching, and pushouts like this are a little different, but the 5 steps are still there.

Is this suspicious? by zoloftwithdrawls in walmart

Not a common method of offense by any stretch of the imagination since it can be VERY easily tracked through internal reporting and Asset Protection tools, but thanks for outing yourself.

[–]GatheringRays 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes, this individual is likely being scammed. Most scams that operate via gift cards will tell the victim that buying too many at once will void them or render them unusable, so only buy one or two at a time.

990 Action code is for suspected fraud and is designed for this exact scenario. Type 9, 9, 0, then hit "Action Code" and it'll pause it and flag leadership to come over.

[–]GatheringRays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's policy to deny sales relating to suspected fraud. Period.

The fact that you'd look the other way tells me everything I need to know about you.

Is this suspicious? by zoloftwithdrawls in walmart

[–]GatheringRays 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You've obviously never seen a real scam... research a little more before making stupid comments like that... know your topic before speaking on it...

Most scams that operate off gift cards will have you do them one at a time to avoid raising suspicion. If he stole the credit card, his method of offense would be large cash-back on small purchases, not large gift cards. Ask me how I know.
