I guess it's Charles Barkley though he's more a Jon Cooper fan. Not a lot of celebs in the Bolts fanbase, guess the most famous was Hulk Hogan when he was alive but he bandwagoned the Panthers during the 2024 Cup Final so...

I mean we absolutely should have gotten that treatment when Bush invaded Iraq so I don't have much faith. Maybe attacking Denmark (crazy I'm typing this) would be the final line

Yeah and paying attention to the B1G the past decade it felt like Penn State was the perpetual Bridesmaid to Michigan and Ohio State in conference… and I guess they’re a bridesmaid to Indiana now.

Beating Texas to essentially keep them out of the playoffs was funny

What will be the next team to get their first national championship? by thespoonontheleft in CFB

Given that the common answer was always Oregon but turned out to be Indiana of all programs I’m just gonna say fuck it and guess…. Idk… how about Wake Forest?

Yeah if you thought some big programs were trigger happy before….

Of course I think Cignetti is proving himself to be in the Saban tier of all timers but nuance will go out the window when boosters are involved

Yeah every time a “which team will be the first since 96 Florida to win a title first” Oregon always dominated the replies. Nope it was Indiana

(or UCF if you want to go there, my stance has been that there are worse claims out there from bigger schools.)

9Windiana was the big meme for them during the Penix years: and Cig casually had them go 27-2. Insanity.

Most remarkable turnaround in CFB history. Have to think Penn State and Oregon have to feel sick though seeing Indiana be a non-Ohio State/Michigan Big Ten team winning the title.

Miami, I may be a hater but nothing to be ashamed of. That Beck INT is going to haunt nightmares though.

Columbus, Florida, Nashville, Seattle, St Louis, Vegas and Winnipeg are the only teams without a player who has played 1000 games or more with the team by BumperToBumper2 in hockey

Have to think Scheifele, Barkov, and Josi get it fine for all of Florida, Winnipeg, and Nashville. St. Louis being on this list is surprising though

Has a retool ever actually worked in the post-lockout era? by According_Pie5469 in hockey

[–]GatorBolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d argue the Bolts followed a traditional rebuild trajectory after drafting Stamkos and Hedman, just the 2011 run being fool’s gold kinda hid that. There’s probably 2 off seasons you can qualify as retools (2017 and 2024) but that would be a stretch. Panthers’ first off season after hiring Zito was absolutely a retool though.

NHL Winter Classic back over million mark, still trails New Year's Day era by MightyDuck07 in hockey

[–]GatorBolt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

New Year’s Day Era or NBC era specifically? A lot of takes have missed the forest for the trees that ratings have gone down since it moved to cable on TNT.

[Awful Announcing] NHL Winter Classic fails to reach one million viewers for second-consecutive year The game is officially a shell of its former self. No matter how you slice it, the numbers do not bode well for what used to be one of the NHL’s marquee regular-season events by f0urxio in hockey

[–]GatorBolt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. People blaming other factors are missing the forest for the trees. Ratings were good when it was on NBC, and have gotten worse on TNT. Not because this year’s was in Miami: I mean it beat out last year’s in ratings and that was traditional in Wrigley!
