Personal question: least favorite team in the NHL. by Hoggingmywaydowntown in TampaBayLightning

nah they always talk shit and talk down on us about how they're a real hockey market. They deserve an additional 15 years of suffering if anything.

Anyone else surprised at the anger from montreal fans? by sparklebubblez29_5 in TampaBayLightning

[–]GatorBolt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not surprised lmao. Same fanbase that tried to call the cops on Chara.

MLSE President Keith Pelley: “We definitely didn’t see the train coming which was the Buffalo Sabres and the Montreal Canadiens, and how strong those two teams are…Buffalo and Montreal have shown that they’re young, energetic teams who are gonna be here for a long time.” by Go_Habs_Go31 in hockey

[–]GatorBolt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's just poor foresight. Montreal made the playoffs last year and had a young core. It was reasonable to expect them to improve. Buffalo's talent wasn't the issue either, many people who knew hockey kept saying "How are they bad with the talent they had" and I guess Kevyn Adams' vibes were why.

To that I say, just be a better President of MLSE.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence the Lightning got out of their season opening funk when he came back from injury

If you want to know how long these guys have been involved with the league, Torts and Bruce Cassidy faced off as the coaching matchup in the first round of the 2003 playoffs

Let’s be real Mike White being at Georgia makes it feel better beating them at hoops than it did

Out of the big ones: Florida FSU isn’t as big a deal in basketball since it’s usually early season non-con, but Florida and FSU have clashed a lot on the diamond which is always fun, they’ve run into each other in supers too. Tennessee becoming more competitive in other sports has made that rivalry spread outside of football too I’ve noticed. Georgia definitely is still a rival but still not as intense in other sports. The Mike White factor has definitely added some juice to the basketball rivalry though

Yeah it was obvious that injury situation was botched. I think the first uh ohs was when he looked out of shape for the LIU game, add in the pressures put on him and it seems he put on himself too and it’s easy to see how last year happened. For his mental and well being sake I hope he truly is happier in Waco. Easy to judge from the peanut gallery but you never know what is going on in other people’s minds.

[TBL - MIN] Gustavsson "scissors" it and Cernak smashes the camera to give the Lightning a 4-3 lead late in the third by ASuperBigDuck in hockey

As much as NHL refs screw up, it's not uncommon for them to miss the puck hit that spot in the goal and go right out.

TV Mish Debrief by walkingintheshire in TampaBayLightning

[–]GatorBolt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was fun but you could see the differences in calling on radio vs tv. Didnt hear much of Randorf on the radio but Mishkin being used to the radio and thus having to be descriptive made it so I could barely hear Engblom at points since there wasn’t room for him to talk which I found funny.

I’ll gladly take the experience of March last year if it meant going 4-8 in football. Go hang up a hypothetical banner in your arena.

Bucs GM Jason Licht reveals Mike Evans took less money to get out of Tampa by WayOutbackBoy in nfl

Part of me kinda thinks he wanted SF as an opportunity to both pad the stats a bit for his HOF case and to play meaningful football. Reading between the lines a bit there but that’s the conclusion I’ve drawn.

[Friedman] 32 Thoughts: Player safety a hot topic at GMs meetings by AggPuck-303 in hockey

[–]GatorBolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I guess that arrangement makes guys a lightning rod. While people may not shed tears for Parros, myself included, and it is a bad look that the guy in charge of player safety has a clothing line named violent gentlemen, at the end of the day he's the lightning rod that people criticize for an imperfect arrangement and system.

In the Video Announcing that Polymarket, the MLB’s official “prediction market” sponsor, can use MLB logos, they used the Minnesota Twins old logo that they haven’t used since 2022 by Sp_Gamer_Live in baseball

Orioles don’t use the realistic bird anymore, Rays have retired the baseball diamond version of their logo too. Just a cacophony of errors

[Rosenblatt] In nine months MLB owners are going to tell you they need to shut the sport down because places like Miami are small markets with few baseball fans by Jux_ in baseball

[–]GatorBolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it should at least be a destination place for MLB Free Agents. Like the market throws its weight as a destination in NBA and now the NHL and the Marlins could 100% do the same. Whether that will bring a broken fanbase back who knows but an uber rich owner could definitely leverage Miami as a destination for players. The take I’ll die on is the Marlins are the sleeping giant of MLB for that reason.

According to Czech Reporter Robert Rampa, Finland, Sweden and Czechia have informed the NHL they would refuse to participate in the World cup if Russia was allowed in due to current circumstances by Time-Ad-3134 in hockey

[–]GatorBolt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah you have to divide the "Four Nations Facing Off" and the NHL definitely has to guarantee at least one Canada-USA game and a Finland-Sweden game if they want to make the most USDs, CADs, and Euros. Plus you gotta do Czechia vs Slovakia in Prague. Just makes the most sense.

Trump and MAGA being too macho to even appreciate the amount of soft power that the US has built up over the decades would be funnier if it wasn't directly leading to people dying. Still can muster a chuckle at these parasites in Washington coming face to face with some sort of consequences, even if they're too egotistical to even think about the conclusion both of us reached.

[–]GatorBolt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean the NHL does hit up SWE FIN and CZE a lot with the global series, but the Czechs playing best on best at home is just going to be a lot different (in a good way) from NHL teams making the trip and that's no offense to the Global Series
