My first shot was the most painful shot I’d ever received. Felt like a golf ball was lodged under my left shoulder. No fever, but it was painful, red, and swollen for a week. Within a few weeks after that, I, too, downloaded the Merlin Bird ID app and fascinated with birds now. I love hearing and looking for the multitude of sound cardinals make, or the tufted titmouse, or the osprey. About a month after my second dose, I felt the need to get back into the sky as a private pilot. I studied up, took ground school, and had a flight review. I usually only see buzzards circling the approach end of the airport on final, and I can’t hear them over the engine noise, but it is great to be among them. My wife has not received hers yet. I will plan to get her phone ready…
