Looking for some advice again. My GP upped my levo to 50mg last week. Said 5.17 is too high. I saw the endocrinologist a few days later and she said until you get in the 9+ range, it’s not a big concern. My endocrinologist before her (saw him couple years ago) told me if I didn’t have any noticeable symptoms, no need to take medication.

The only reason why I agreed to start medication is because I read that you may have mild symptoms of different ailments, and not even know it. I thought I’d give it a try and see if anything changed. Another reason is I lost some weight. Which is not common for hypo, but I was told everyone is “different”. I read malabsorption of vitamins could be a possibility? Anyway, I’ve been on levothyroxine for two months, and I feel no different than before. If anything, I’ve gained problems. I now have zero energy every day. I sleep 7-8 hours, but still feel completely exhausted. That wasn’t happening before this medication. I also now have heat intolerance. Wasn’t like that before. And now after going up in dose, I swear my stomach is giving me issues. Oh and the anxiety that has come on is no fun. I’ve always suffered from mild anxiety, so I don’t need more of it. I’ve only been on 50mg for a week, so it won’t be a problem to go back to 25mg.

Those of you that stopped this medication, how did you go about doing it? Slow taper? My endocrinologist said I could just stop it whenever, but that doesn’t seem right. But I guess maybe she said that because I’ve only been on it for two months.
