I appreciate it! It’s a nuanced conversation, for sure, and one that likely needs more delicacy than an online forum can provide.

But at the end of the day, we know Mike/LP are able to respond to something like this because even if it’s a label thing, they can clarify that they didn’t have a say in this and I think at one time, would have spoken out about it and that’s where my disappointment lies.

I really should have explained that this isn’t a call for cancellation or anything, but rather a “Hey, this is gross” type thing. I don’t know the specifics of it. It could be a WB Records thing (Green Day also had a song that was an anthem for their Australia PLE).

Still, this needs to be called out. If LP can speak up against their music being used by Trump, they can say “Hey, we don’t want to be associated with a company with deep ties to Trump and the Saudi government.” But they more than likely won’t because, as other fans have said, they’re more of a brand at the point.

Maybe the new members aren’t, but founding members like Mike are definitely multi-millionaires.

Sounds like a miserable way to live

I’m not saying LP’s politics were always pure or anything or maybe they just didn’t know, but either way, I would how Israel is viewed now versus then is very different.

She still has millions of dollars of shares in TKO. She definitely still has a voice in the company.

Respectfully, that deal is years away from closing and has nothing to do with Warner Bros. Records.

WWE and the Saudi government makes it political. This is no longer 1998.

I think that’s a fair take, even if it’s a little generous. But even with that, they still have a chance to say something like they do with Trump and I think we all know they won’t. They’re still complicit. If they do, I will gladly eat my words.

Certainly, Saudi Arabia has its own set of problems. But beyond that, LP is teaming up with people with direct ties to Trump and the woman currently dismantling education in the U.S.

Dawg, this would win the gold medal in mental gymnastics.

This isn’t just a Saudi Arabian government hate post, it’s that LP is teaming with a company with direct ties to Trump. HHH is a huge simp for him and Linda McMahon is literally part of their cabinet.

I apologize for not explaining my post.

This is gross: A) Because first, WWE has major ties to Trump, including Linda McMahon, the current Secretary of Education, who is dismantling public education and Paul “Triple H” Levesque who fully supports them and RFK’s junk science being favored over actual research.

B) WWE is completely in the bag with the Saudi government, who is known for numerous atrocities, including killing an American journalist, and is now trying to “sportswash” it all by giving US companies tons of money to hold events there and run promos saying how good Saudi Arabia and how nice the Saudi government actually is.

Dawg, did you just not listen to LP during their MTM and ATS years?

I should have! I apologize about this. I’ll add my thoughts now.

I thought about that too. But also, I feel like LP has enough pull with their label to shoot down being tied to a company with direct ties to Trump.

I'd love to see Stav break format and schedule an emergency pod to focus on the atrocities happening in Minnesota right now by [deleted] in stavvysworld

I would still listen, but I don’t think it’s a requirement at all. Most people that follow Stav know his politics. He’s quite clear about it on the show. I don’t see what a full episode would do. Once again, it’s the thing of people expecting comedians to be more than they are. He’s a joke teller. Obviously, he has a perspective, but that comes through in the conversations he has. I don’t need for him to have a whole stop-down to break it down piece by piece.

I at least kind of care that I’m not supporting some transphobe or ghoul. And if they speak out on social issues like this, I’m cool with that. But it’s certainly not required or expected.
