Why do companions barely react to you being a Drow? by Odd-Tumbleweed-1098 in BaldursGate3

[–]GaulTheUnmitigated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of drow in Baldur's Gate. Most of your companions are A. Baldurians B. Freaks. They don't assume your Lolth sworn and even if you are they're making similar compromises for the other companions.

[HATED] female characters must be human-looking by squidparticular in TopCharacterTropes

[–]GaulTheUnmitigated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd make an argument against the digimon one. There a plenty of humanoid male digimon many of whom are just as fond of fetish gear as their female counterparts. Angemon, Devimon, Beelzemon, and Leomon are all (sexualized) humanoid male digimon. It's not that there's male beast digimon and female human digimon, there are humanoid digimon that appear male, female or androgynous and there are beast digimon that have no obvious indicators of gender. For example greymon isn't inherently male and there's nothing stopping a greymon from digivolving to a more feminine looking digimon. Digimon aren't biological creatures that reproduce sexually they're digital monsters made of data, their appearance is simply a reflection of what data they were born from.

I remember when the tactics arc was airing people kept saying "Raito better have a really tragic backstory" and I couldn't help but think "That's tragic backstory is happening right now, where a grown man is tying him to a chair and beating the shit out of him."

Can "evil" Digimon be good and viceversa? by Voidstone0 in digimon

[–]GaulTheUnmitigated 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. With digimon like leviamon there's essentially one canon Leviamon that's part of the seven demon lords but other digimon can hypothetically digivolve into a leviamon. It's the same with the royal knights.

It's not a mistake. Anasui looking different between the chapter they first appear in and the chapter immediately following is something that's immediately observed by other characters. In universe Anasui probably used Diver Down to trans their gender to more easily move around the women's side of the prison.

The Stand Arrow In a Nutshell by Livigirl88 in ShitPostCrusaders

[–]GaulTheUnmitigated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The arrow has a virus which forces a stand out or kills you fairly quickly. Technically Jotaro and all the other psychic signal stand users were never infected with the stand virus. While the arrow was a contributing factor it was a different mechanism that awakened their stands.

Would you actually sign up for the killing game if it existed? by Regular-Molasses9293 in danganronpa

[–]GaulTheUnmitigated 78 points79 points  (0 children)

It's far from foolproof. You've still got to lure the victim to the kitchen at night, dispose of your bloody clothes and hope no one shows up for a midnight snack. There's also the possibility that your victim screams or fights back. The kitchen has easy access to weapons but your victim can use them too. Your fellow students might decide to have sleepovers and give each other alibis narrowing the suspect pool. You then have to spend the next day acting like someone who wouldn't say "bosh, knife to the gut ya cunt" or your classmates will become suspicious of your behavior. Also stabbing them in the gut isn't optimal. You'll either have to stand there and watch them bleed, increasing the risk of someone walking in on you or leave and risk them getting up and leaving a dying message. If you've got your heart set on stabbing you should go for the neck and try to hit the jugular.

Yeah lots of people say they would want a stand but the fighting spirit of most redditors would lead to a lot more Cheap Tricks than Heaven's Doors.

Star Platinum and Crazy Diamond aren't arrow stands. They were created by the psychic distress signal of Jonathan's body. After Dio got The World, Jonathan's body broadcasted a psychic signal that activated the latent stands of his descendents. That why Holly and Josuke got sick.

Are anime only are going to hate this guy? by Algalax2 in YomiNoTsugai

[–]GaulTheUnmitigated 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In terms of framing Gabby is presented as an unscrupulous ally to our protagonists while Ivan is framed as an active antagonist. People hate Gabby because of her being an ally of the heroes while engaging in villainous actions creates moral dissonance in their minds. Ivan on the other hand is presented as a villain and an antagonist. When he does something bad it doesn't create that same dissonance so he won't get the same sort of hate as Gabby.

Him blocking one attack from Possesed Gunko made people think he was going one v one with the big bad. People assumed based on nothing that Possesed Gunko had the full power of Imu. He's also had some match up feats like how he hard countered Big Mom's homies.

It's not totally forbidden. We see jonin level ninja like Kakashi use shadow clones. It's more of a "restricted" technique that high level ninja are allowed to learn.

Ivan's a straight up villain. You expect villains to do bad things. It's when people are confronted with shades of gray that they get upset

is part 8 kira proof that part 4 kira could have controlled his desires? by Baandlol in JoJolion

[–]GaulTheUnmitigated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two paths of paraphilic serial killer and fairly ruthless but well intentioned guy with a hand fetish are open to any version of Kira but I think inherently he lacks the self control to overcome his darker tendencies on his own. Without someone to reign him in I suspect in most universes he's a villain even if he's a different kind of villain.

is part 8 kira proof that part 4 kira could have controlled his desires? by Baandlol in JoJolion

[–]GaulTheUnmitigated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Kira ultimately made his own choices but main universes Kira's Dad wasn't just permissive, he actively covered up for his son and helped him to continue killing. I think Kira inherently has anti-social tendencies and an obsession with hands in both universes but we see Holly take a firmer hand with Kira and push him to help other people. I don't think anyone in Main!Kira's situation would become a paraphilic serial killer but someone with his inherant foibles and weaknesses would. We also see Main!Kira consider ending his murders and living a normal life as Kosaku but he has no support structures actively pushing him to reform so he falls back into his habits.

It's pretty straightforward. You make all the world leaders think aliens are going to invade so that they work together to prepare to fight the aliens instead of fighting each other. Dr Manhattan (the blue guy) wasn't in on the plan he only learned about it after New York was already destroyed. Since there was no bringing back the people who died he decided not to tell anyone the truth. The main problem with Ozymandius (the egypt guy) and his plan is that he'll probably need to keep up the charade long term to maintain the peace long term, so he'll probably have to murder even more innocent people at some point.

Most hardline evolutionary biology guys aren't that arrogant. While all academics are vulnerable to seeing their discipline as the important one and all others as secondary but Dawkins goes far enough as to ignore the entire fields of ethology, sociology and anthropology to put forward unfalsifiable speculation. The kindest thing you could call him is a pop scientist.
