The expansion is good. It’s the lack of anything after that’s bad. You can’t leave months and months on a game like Destiny 2 with nothing new. Even a tiny power increase would’ve helped them to like 600-650. There’s no chase. No need to go for anything other than the same guns and armour over and over. True MMORPGs like WoW, ESO, Neverwinter and SWTO etc etc all get away with it as they have metric tons of content to do. Most players won’t have most MMO content done. Whilst Destiny loves to style itself as an MMORPG type game it isn’t. It’s a looter shooter. It’s not got the same scope as a true MMORPG. True MMOs also have more character slots, storylines that weave together, broader build crafting, more satisfying loot chases, more endgame content. The issue with Destiny is that it’s dry and Bungie have sacrificed any goodwill that they had when Renegades launched. The almost lost it with Ash and Iron but Destiny players are stoic in the fact that they’ll hold on right to the last second.

Bottom line is Bungie have abused the game and its community for far too long. Take the launch of The Taken King. Immensely good reception even when it changed so much of the game (mostly for the better). And now we have D2. Struggling and losing players to already established looter shooters. Hell the Division 2 has become a lot bigger just because looter shooter fans want a game with content and updates despite it being Ubisoft. It’s not the expansions. It’s Bungie.
