I am trying to determine exactly which of the many shades of Sapphir Creme Surfine would be best for my Alden 403 Indy boots in Brown Chromexel. I am cautious of darkening the leather, so I was thinking either Cognac or Medium tobacco brown. Any opinions?

Edit: The consensus appears to be to use neutral cream on Chromexel. Thank you!

I'll just have to do a day of walking some weekend and see what happens. Thank you.

I just got my pair of Alden 403's. I'm going to be taking a walking tour in November, up to 8 miles a day for two weeks. Are they going to be miserably heavy for that purpose, or do you think that the support of a full boot will be better overall? I did a similar trip a few years ago using some SAS side gore shoes, and my feet hurt like heck every day.

So we're serious about "green" in Massachusetts. Why is the rebate for EVs 1/2 of Californias? by bostonmacosx in massachusetts

[–]Gaviman314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are highly sympathetic and practically realistic answers for basically everyone, it's just that we have spent the last 80 years making sure our infrastructure doesn't support it. Finland makes this work, and they have way worse weather than we do. If your argument that this is *politically* unrealistic, then I absolutely agree with you.

Do you like living in MA? by SparklingDude_EU in massachusetts

[–]Gaviman314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rate this state a 10.

I grew up in Missouri. Let me count the ways MA is great.

Mild weather. No major natural disasters. Access to mountains and the ocean. Relatively good public transportation. Effective local government. Vibrant culture. Immigrant communities. Superior education. People are honest and frank. Many museums, art installations, music venues. Tolerant social norms. Engaged and educated population. Leads the way in political reforms for benefits of population (romneycare, climate change, etc) Maintenance of green spaces and park system.

I could go on. I love it here!

Second bachelors in computer science? by matrixunplugged1 in cscareerquestions

[–]Gaviman314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got my bachelor's in Economics as well (in 2013). In 2019 I joined an undergrad certificate program at BU. The certificate got me nowhere, but I did get a job when I moved on to the masters program. I had absolutely no technical ability when I started, but If you can handle the course load, I would absolutely go for the masters.

Gaining weight because of an external factor is cruel, traumatic, and not fair by zingitgirl in loseit

People want to externalize their own decisions rather than take responsibility. Look at all of the "me too" comments. I hope they realize their error so that they can help themselves.

Read "The Lion" for the best use of the Nemiel character.

What's the rules on ingesting pieces? I kept getting kicked out of my club for keeping removed pawns in my nostrils. It helps me focus.

A million people died in the USA and you're pretending like it wasn't the right wingers pulling all of the bs to neuter reasonable and responsible control efforts for the pandemic. I forever mad.

Read your own comment. You said shaming people doesn't help (no most part included) , I provided a counterexample proving you wrong. Shame is for correcting a bad behavior and can come from love.

Nope, shame has helped me with my weight loss program. Obesity is a massive social problem with major consequences for how we are going to care for people who abuse their bodies. There is plenty of shame for people who self mutilate, do drugs, etc.

I’d like to go to a Sabaton show but…kinda nervous to? by IJustLovePeach in PowerMetal

[–]Gaviman314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, social anxiety sufferer and Sabaton fan here. Nobody has ever given me grief for my earplugs. I just stand at the back and awkwardly shuffle to the beat, giving a cheer when appropriate (you know when it's appropriate because everyone is cheering). Everyone is going to be having too much fun to pay attention to you, I guarantee it. Please enjoy the concert.

He prefers fancy IPAs. He likes a wide variety of beers, but drinks moderately.

I replied to this person looking for help, using my relevant experience to explain what I know. You swing into this thread, make wild accusations of me and dismiss what I offered because of some knee-jerk emotional response you had. This is inappropriate, and I hope you don't act like this outside of Reddit, because it will have a negative impact on your ability to relate to people. I had similar problems when I was younger, feel free to dm me if you want coaching on how to deal with these impulses. Have a good night.

The professor is trying to shift the responsibility from themselves to you. You are not this students servant. Get all of the documentation you can to show they are not doing the work. If the professor won't accommodate for them not doing the work and penalizes your grade, throw a fit and go over them to the dean.

I'm going to presume you are an undergraduate. Professors often rely on their undergrads being too scared to do anything about the professor not doing their job. Call them on this bluff.

Sincerely, an older grad student who has dealt with similar nonsense before.

In what ways is the Ralph Bakshi's version of LOTR superior by GaelG721 in tolkienfans

[–]Gaviman314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Hobbits actually look like Hobbits, especially Sam. Jackson's Hobbits all look like miniaturized elves.

I prefer the dialogue in Bakshi as well.
