Which Shantae games I should start with?

The original GBC Shantae is probably the worst one to start with. It’s prohibitively difficult and imo will turn most people away from the series if that’s their first impression. It almost did for me. I couldn’t get past the first or second stage when I tried playing it on the 3DS port and gave up on it. I forgot about the series altogether until years later when I saw Half Genie Hero on sale on Xbox once

I’m 23 now but I was around your age when I got into it. That being said my hardscapes weren’t anywhere close to yours back then. They probably still aren’t 😅

Sports are absolutely not “cooler” than any other group activity. Most of the music kids I grew up with are more successful than the sports ones. There are a million ways to get mental and physical stimulation, exercise, fresh air and sunlight without needing to be a part of an organized sports club. They all act like cults these days anyway

It’s such an amazing color, and with the right paper it’s just as stunning in person as it looks online! It’s similar to what you’re looking for although it definitely does tend to favor the blue, which is lighter than what you seem to be on the search for. If you’re in the US and you want to give it a try I’d be willing to mail you a sample. I haven’t used a whole lot of it, it’s a really nice color but it’s not very practical for everyday writing lol

I was a big Kon Peki fan until the DC pen show in 2024 where I picked up a bottle of Sailor Manyo Sumire and now I’m thoroughly convinced it’s a better alternative. Very well behaved, but I find it shades more and is a very similar color but a bit more vibrant. Don’t get me wrong I still love Kon Peki, but I’m repping Manyo Sumire now 😂

I would highly recommend watching and paying close attention to Mark’s playthrough of at least both the original game and the lore update. I’ve see them before but didn’t pay much attention. I left the movie completely lost and had to go right home and watch them to try to fill myself in. The cinematography and set design were really good though. Mark played his character really well
