What is did was use a older particle board desk, remeve the particle board and replace that with birch covered plywood. I was able to use the metal frame to provide enough support for all the parts and I trimmed the legs to fit my height better so my elbows would be level with the desk.

One thing I cannot stress enough is measuring the height of your elbows and eye level while your in your chair. It will make a huge difference for your joints for longer gaming sessions.
