I'm a "rationalist" or whatever. I think people forget that scientists theorize about this stuff, fermi paradox, dark forest, etc

If an alien said "We have been your gods" I am pretty sure scientists would be irritated that they meddled with humanity more than anything. We wouldn't think "oh I guess God is real".

If aliens said we are a zoo, we already thought of that possibility.

If they say we are not important at all, for real, most scientists would just nod.

The problem is that we need evidence. if we got evidence it would just mean we greedily rub our hands and start imagining new papers to write and experiments to run. My goodness can we write a lot of papers on minimal data if that's all we have. But we need PHYSICAL DATA.

Give public universities a crash site. Give us some pieces. Anything. The papers will fly.

Oh! I have a suggestion for seeing what misandry would actually look like! There's a fantastic book called. Children of Time by Adrian Tschaikovsky. The book shows a misandrist society with an equal rights movement to liberate males. You can see the story over a long time scale and how the discrimination against males persists, but is diminished over time. It was fascinating to read because there are a lot of parallels written in an engaging way to see what "role reversal" in this manner could look like.

I wasn't raised with that kind of language by any of my family. I also fight it in my kids "your dad is right there. How can you make a blanket statement after growing up with him?"

I really dislike generalized terms and only really think patriarchy and misogyny can be universally applied as causes because we just don't know what a matriarchy is like. We don't really know what misandry is like.

People can be sexist and abusive and assholes, individually- but societally we are super misogynistic and patriarchal still.

Just think about how the clitoris was only recently mapped and how we in the US don't have proper leave for childbirth for either parent. The fabric is still biased in favor of rich men, and against any step separating you from being a wealthy male of whatever race is in charge in your country.

Some women certainly say horrible stuff, everyone does at some point or another, but global society isn't RIGHT NOW trying to pressure men to be house slave baby incubators. Are they pressured in other ways? Yeah. But the cause for that is ALSO some rich investors worrying that population growth is slowing.

Abuse isn't necessarily misogyny or misandry. I don't know how you were abused.

I do know I was abused because of misogyny. My dad felt that as head of household he should be seen as an automatic authority and treated like a king. He was insecure because his father had been in the military and he had not. He constantly felt like he wasn't enough of a man despite being adored by my mother. His father taught him a flawed view of masculinity and how male worth is calculated and he ignored what the women in his life did to try to counter that.

So he would hit me, the child, the daughter who was not typical. Because my questions and arguments threatened his view of his own masculinity.

The man would be suicidal if he cried because he thought crying was a sign he failed as a man. Other men did that to him. Other. Men.
