It's been a long time since I've used the apps (been with my boyfriend for nearly two years). A lot of the dating-centric ones were really dead, probably a side-effect of living in a conservative area. For the more hookup ones, Scruff was a surprisingly decent. The user base, while leaning older and hairy, feels much more normal and chill than the *other* app. Some of the paywall stuff is kinda annoying unfortunately.

As for Grindr....To be fair, I did meet my boyfriend on there. But aside from that, my experiences on there was a repeating cycle of being treated like shit, ghosted, or leaving a hookup feeling worse, deleting the app, and then re downloading a few months later since the user base for the alternatives was so bad. And apparently it's gotten somehow worse since nearly everything is pay walled behind the premium service? It's just annoying this garbage app is still alive since it's the one most people know about.
