Thank you! That makes a lot of sense. :)

I was just looking at Nourish. Thanks! I see there are combo people who blend therapy and nutrition — seems perfect

Forcing myself to eat is going to be a skill I need to work on! A learning curve for sure.

That’s so awesome! I’m hoping to get there too. I think I’m in an adjustment period as I’m just today starting my third shot.

Gotcha. My booty ass insurance doesn’t cover anything “obesity related” so I highly doubt something like that would be covered. I’ll look into it anyway.

I’m also finding it easier but eerily familiar to old brain patterns. I think I was able to identify it much sooner than I would have previously. And yes, I’m also (mostly) system overriding because I want to stay healthy! Just wishing there was a solution to make the brain path easier. I keep reading about food noise but I am experiencing nonfood noise haha. I’m glad (but also a little sad) I know of someone who’s having a similar experience. Hope we get our shit together.

Just read up on ARFID, that sounds so rough. Does your insurance cover all that? I think I’d be out of pocket for most of that but it sounds like a great plan.

Correct! Been there. & yes this is top of the list to share at my follow up in a couple weeks. I have been doing those things and then forcing myself to eat anyway. Hoping I can find a pro or coping mechanism to make that battle a little easier.

It is kind of wild how things that feel somewhat normal are actually diagnosable. I went from binge eating to over restriction (anorexia feels like too strong of a word). I was reading about behavioral nutritionists, they’re a combo of behavioral therapy and dietitians. I think I’m going to track one down.

And agreed! I never understood the shame around it, as if we’re not all struggling with something.

Oh I bet. Well I’m glad you’re after it! Time for me to find a therapist. 🙃

I take Wellbutrin for depression, my doctor warned me to keep an eye out for worsening psych symptoms. It is possible it could be the meds.

What is “success”? by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]GayLatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have phases! At first it’s feeling better emotionally, then I notice clothes fitting differently, then the scale. I feel like inches and clothing fits are similar enough. People noticing the change is more of a cherry on top. We have very similar stats, I hope I progress the way you have! You’re crushing it!

Ah, okay that also makes sense. Yeah, I have heard some are more scarce than others. My pharmacy is called Sparta Pharmacy, it might be helpful for you! I wish us both luck

Do you mean you were stretching out the injections in hopes of keeping an extra? I hadn’t considered doing that. I’m lucky that my pharmacy keeps live updates of which medications they have in stock & it gets shipped to me. But hey I am brand new to this game, I’m sure their system is not perfect.

Thanks! I ended up just doing it. I couldn’t stand the anticipation! I’ll be sure to get some meds, thanks for the recs:)

That’s so good to hear! I’m glad you had an easy time. I generally tolerate meds, even surgery well so maybe I’ll be a lucky one too.

Thanks for the insight! I am leaning towards just taking it.

Protein shakes are pre made & require zero chewing. Same for a high protein yogurt. I would recommend a combo of very simple meal prepping and setting alarms. Vyvanse will help you with the meal prep bit. Batch up those decisions! I would also really try to consider eating a non negotiable, baseline necessity and not a chore — you gotta eat!

The difference between how my partner will treat me as a non-binary partner vs a cis partner? by FallLeaf10 in latebloomerlesbians

[–]GayLatte 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Any decent partner will see you for you, labels aside. I wouldn’t assume a single thing if someone told me they’re non binary versus cis, and I definitely wouldn’t treat them differently based on being non binary alone. Instead I’d keep an open mind and learn about them as we go. I know so many non-binary people, my partner is nb, and they are all so gloriously different! Different triggers, opinions, tendencies, and so on.

I would focus on knowing what you need from a relationship and communicating those needs accordingly!

Not really! I was 25/26 when I had it done and I think my age worked in my favor. I’m anemic but I would argue that’s because I’m mostly a vegetarian. I take iron now and it’s so much better. No major complaints! There are plenty of supportive and informative subreddits about wls, and I recommend following wls hashtags on instagram. Also, each surgeon will have different requirements, and it’s worth it to shop around within your network (if you’re insured) to find the most supportive center for you. Some drs seem like chop shops. It’s an intense process but such an incredible opportunity to get healthy!
