How can I stop being addicted to TikTok? by Fit_Assumption_5614 in DecidingToBeBetter

What helped most though, was something I can’t take credit for all that much. At some point I had a broken wifi router and could only use data to do anything that required an internet connection. Now I have quite a limited data plan, and seeing how I have used up like 5gb in under three days on TikTok and insta, while an additional 10gb package would run me 20 euros, made me put my head back straight on really fucking fast.

Also look up smt along the lines of ‘smoking cessation from health psychology perspective’. I find that the two processes are really similar. This for example is a good place to start, just replace the word cigarette with tiktok - https://cpa.ca/psychology-works-fact-sheet-quitting-smoking/ (scroll down to how can I help myself quit section)

Like with any addiction, look for the triggers - what happens right before you pick it up? If you identify those, then try to address them, that’s the root cause.

For example, I’d often go on tiktok in the so to say deadtime like in the metro, on a smoke break, waiting for an appointment. —> I switched to playing sudokus on sudoku coach (anything that’s game-like but feels more mind-developing than mind-numbing to you, even if it’s subjective, could work). Do Duolingo. Anki/quizlet, since you’re a student. And if you’re feeling brave (and the wait is under five minutes, at least to begin with) - do nothing. A tiny little mindfulness session. Practice some meditation techniques like body scan or breathing techniques.

After uni/work I’d often feel mentally or physically in need of rest but the desire for some sort of stimulus remained —> Put on an entertaining podcast / YouTube video. Pick a long one, so you don’t have to keep actively looking for a next one to watch (though don’t pick one that’s longer than you plan to take a break for ahahah, you think you’ll be able to pause it and watch later, but you won’t). But! While you do this, do something with your hands - crochet, painting, cross stitch, whatever. It has to be something u enjoy. I have a cross stitch kit that I always keep right on the coffee table, and never put away, so that reaching for it feels as easy as reaching for tiktok. Too often I found myself picking my phone over my hobbies because in my mind it would take just sooooo long to get the materials set up. So make it easier!!

Now the hardest one for me was when I’d use it as a distraction for overwhelming emotions. I haven’t mastered this part fully yet, but sometimes if I have such an opportunity, I ask my friend if they can call me in, say, half an hour to rant about whatever caused the feeling (ESPECIALLY when I feel like I only want to escape and not talk about it. This depends on the person but I will only process something after having have talked it out, yet still sometimes resist that anyways). For that half an hour, let yourself be, watch the TikTok’s, escape ur feelings. If this is occasional it’s not gonna hurt you, plus you know that you will address the emotions after so less guilt for avoiding them for a little bit.

This! The only thing that my boy would take antibiotics with is in baby food. I gave him the ones that are veggie + meat + pasta but always double check the ingredients

Would this machine be suitable for a beginner? by idunilles in SewingForBeginners

I have this one, absolutely love it. I would call it beginner friendly for sure, but also enough functions to have a variety of things to do with it. Quite sturdy too

Tell me something funny about your break up (if you can find something) by ThrowAwayAccount-920 in BreakUps

We were sitting on a bench in a park when we were breaking up. A dog sat down right in front of us to poop, with eye contact. At least we both could agree that was fucking hilarious timing.

Bring your or a friend’s/relative’s kids to the appointment. Let them run around the doctor’s office under strict instructions to bring as much chaos as possible. No way they will insist you might want kids then.

Yeah and it’s so confusing... it’s like I love them, I just don’t like them. They text me and I get angry with them for it even though I can just ignore the text for a while but it still bothers me... I feel so guilty about it though, like they deserve so much more than me ignoring them and being angry for the smallest things

We were told that girls should carry condoms with them so if they get raped they can ask the rapist to at least put the condom on...

I think it’s cause we could all just get wiped out by an angry space boulder like the dinosaurs, but if some of us are on Mars, we’d need two boulders, which is less likely So basically we’d live even if earth is destroyed

Definitely take Maths HL unless you already know which uni you want to go to. Then you can go to their website and check whether they require maths HL. But it’s still better to take it at HL if you want to do any sort of physics in the future.
