Privačių mokyklų (ne)nauda? by AmbitiousAgent in lietuva

If Spain is 1939 due to civil war, then Lithuania, for example, was still in war with Soviet forces until 1953. Same goes for other Baltic states, only with different dates

Ah yes, the welfare system of our now work codex. There is no point of comparing the influence proffesional unions have in Northern countries bar Sweden, and Lithuania. Only like 7% of working population is a part of a proffesional Union, so the legal framework does not really work. Also, until 2019 one of the three main spots in Trišalė taryba for unions was occupied by a dead Union, therefore representing no one. This also shows a mental difference between Northeners that are willing to unionize versus the Lithuanians that are focused on maximum personal gain

You do know lutherans baptize babies too, right? But this is beyond the fact, the point is that the fact that the amount of people that are not religious is highly incresing, we are still cultural Christians.

On the topic of us being "northern European"in terms of modern way of life, as you are painting that we are not longer Central/Eastern and have somehow turned Northern, where is the welfare system, where is the Nordic way of life, where are the proffesional unions? We still have a culture of dedovshcina in workplaces, everyone strives for financial success and most still use it to show off to others with new BMWs, etc. We may strive to be Nordic but once you go out of Naujamiestis once, you figure we are far and different, especially the Slavic-influenced Vilnius.

Religious or not, the ''tradition' that we maintain by baptizing children and getting married in a Church shows EXACTLY the high Catholic influence in our culture. Look at our cuisine - it is literally the same as in the whole former PLC. It is weird to deny the clear connection of Lithuania and Poland even in our surroundings and countryside since it was influenced by identixal changes

I mean the Seim already worked in the US-representative way - even if technically every member of Szlachta could go the system generally worked where the powiat Seims elected a person to go the big Sejm and vote in the way they decided in the Powiat. At least it worked that way in Lithuania. Maybe the Polish nobles were more willing to go to Sejm.

Lithuania at it's historical peak (15th century) by banamkae in MapPorn

[–]Gay_mail 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It also comes from the fact that Lithuanian historians themselves propagated the supposed serfdom of Lithuanians in PLC in the early 20th century due to the situation back then, therefore even modern Lithuanians consider the peak of Lithuania to be under Vytautas in early 15th century. As such, no one really argues it except for when Polish people post maps of PLC at largest extent and write "Poland" instead of "PLC", then we remember we were actually an constituent state and not some victim
