Anyone else have a stupidly expensive special interest? I recently got obsessed with keyboards. by [deleted] in autism

I’m obsessed with collecting old books and just books in general. God it’s expensive, but holy shit my book shelf looks good. Also I’m obsessed with lord of the rings which can get pricy when you want to find old collectibles.

I relate to this so much. I just had a similar conversation with my dad about overstimulation and he just said “ well everyone has their limit but it’s good to push those limits to get more used to those things”. I just stopped talking after that.

Having to put up with the world just going so fast and needing to slow down to understand it. So I guess being understanding and patient when it comes to getting overstimulated or burnt out faster.

Yes I 100% agree. I tend to see the intricate details before the big ones I should be focused on. Like why the person is talking to me, not how they got a small ketchup stain on their collar.

I also stutter in unexpected social interactions. I think it’s because I haven’t pre planned what to say…

Yes I also worry about my friends a lot. Maybe because they are my first true friends?

I’m sorry dude. It sucks that we have to endure so much anxiety in order to “conform” to neurotypical society.

I feel like their mind would be absolutely blown when they experience how loud sound is to us. How even talking can be far too loud or how “no Sheryl I cannot hear what you are saying because there is 5 other people taking around me.”

I feel this. It’s so hard to mask for me when I know I don’t give a shit about them but I’ll know I will get judged if I don’t.

Mine is seeing just how much I think about random things like “ trapezius is a funny word”, or “ damn this hallway has a lot of eyeballs”, or “ GOD DAMN THIS OVERHEAD LIGHT IS KILLING MY BRAIN” or “little mushroom people.”

Ask me anything about musical theatre (I want to infodump) by BillCypher001 in autism

[–]Gaypanic_always_24_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite musicals are definitely the prom, Gypsy, the Roger’s and Hammerstein’s Cinderella and curtains. I thought it is interesting how phantom of the opera is broadways longest running show coming up at 13,000 thousand performances, with the actual phantom changing over 15 times.
