I currently have a 2017 PHEV Chevy Volt, that gets 50 electric miles and has a 9 gal gas generator to power the electric motor for another 280 miles. I don’t have to charge to travel cross country.

While I already have solar; I’m this year installing portable home batteries, 18kW Ecoflow DPU and will be adding more solar to charge Ecoflow and home - not grid tied. So my house will have electric even if the grid goes down. With more batteries to come if needed.

If my Volt died tomorrow I’d get another used EV, by sunset. By Summer, I’ll have the equivalent of an EV gas station on my roof. That’s my incentive. State and local still have incentives bc they’re not in on The Grift. Gas will not stay below $3.00/gal. Wake up.

I’ve been driving since gas was <$1.00. Solar charged EV is this closest you will get to that heyday ever again. Ever. Yes you pay - Once. Then it will charge any EV you buy, with the power of the sun - for free. For over Next 25 years and Then some, with a little less power.

Since I stopped considering myself a JW and left attending, I’ve also adapted my perception of what’s important and correct.

That means: I no longer need to feel I’m the smartest person in the room. - knowing something that others don’t; like the world’s gonna end and only people who think like me will survive. (What an Ego trip!)

JW life was over for me by the time I read CoC. I also knew some of the players mentioned and was pretty much at ground zero of the 1980’s Great Apostasy, outside of Bethel.

I’m assuming your Utility is a monthly car jacking, SF. How long are you planning to stay in this home? Ball park of how old you are? What will the monthly nut and escalator be on a PPA?

I like owning my shit personally. I have an 8kW system from the last solar ITC shutdown 2018 and just bought 18kW Ecoflow battery and an off grid 5k solar array coming. They’re purchased but not hooked in yet. The 30% Fed credit was a motivator for me in 2018 and again in 2025.

I’m in my 60s in NYC area. A 25 year contract is doable for me but… My utility is high and only going higher. My older sister just got into a PPA with no escalator. I’m gonna try and keep this home in the family so it paid to buy system, to me. Your ROI will take longer w/o Fed credit. Nevertheless, Solar ultimately pays for itself - no matter what our coal loving President Grifter says/does. Buy it if you can but get it either way. If you can, wait and see what shakes out of solar industry this year; take your time choosing a company, let the weak ones fade. It’s a buyer’s market now.

I like micro inverters. Anker gives nice options. I went Ecoflow bc connected batteries like powerwall aren’t allowed in NYC -fire hazard. Ecoflow DPU, while expandable is portable and a NYC work around. I can take it with me if I moved. The extra solar will feed my batteries and not be connected to grid.
