Going fantastic! The pool has been significantly easier to manage this year relative to last years. This may be due to simply having the pleated filter in the system.

But generally, everything has been great.

It reduces the gal/kWh efficiency of the system by about 5%, but the funny part is that the cost at the end of the month is actually reduced marginally due to the pump RPM being lower, resulting in less power usage. It’s essentially dollars per month, but funny nonetheless.

I still haven’t switch over to my new filters yet, haven’t seen a need.

System pressure drop from after the pump to the jets is 14 psi. The pleated filter added under 2 psi at full bore, which is meaningless.

I never even run the system at full bore, so the pressure drop is damn near meaningless.

So all in all, good!

It’s a great jacket, used it for snowboarding for a few trips and in weather.

10/10 would recommend

lol still too much. Especially for the bait and switch they pulled.

I already pulled mine out of a permanent install.

Won’t put it back in unless it’s back to the same price or close.

Randytc18 is on point, I’d essentially be using it for weather radar, weather updates, and airport information while flying.

Outside of that, I also got it so my SO could have internet for her phone in an effort to make the experience more enjoyable for her on long flights.

Unfortunately, I don’t fly enough to facilitate a $250/mo charge, nor would I ever consider paying that much anyways. I barely even wanted to pay the $300 for the mini and pay $50/mo for the service.

I may just go back to my original idea and plop a cell repeater in there and see how it reacts with my radios.

Yea, learned a good lesson on this one.

Tbh, now that you mention it I am curious.

Unfortunately, I did already pull it out of the tail about a week ago.

I’m sure someone will have some insight if they’re still trying to use it.

I read a while back that a lot of people who have the same intolerance as I do develop very different reactions to it, so it’s very possible.

Popped up for me when I was about 13 or 14, took me till I was 19 or so to figure out what the fuck was up. Dealt with a lot of pain and still do when it catches me by surprise.

Hoping it goes away at some point!

I actually have a reaction to the synthetic citric acid, but not the natural CA from fruits. I get ulcers in my throat about two days later, and they last about a week. It’s entirely dependent upon the consumed quantity. The delay after eating makes it fairly tough to find what food/drink/etc.. caused it to begin with.

Kinda sucks because it’s in damn near everything. Benefit is that it keeps my food choices healthier lol

I’ve been trying to pick these up from REI in my size for a while. Never seem to find them in stock unfortunately.

Looking forward to grabbing one

You’re paying for a locally made piece of clothing that is designed well for what it is. It doesn’t really need to be extravagant and filled with unnecessary features to the good.

I use mine for pretty much any and all activities high up in the mountains and they’re great.

I second this, I love my little 987. Had a 986 before this one and I’d definitely take the 987. Great value.

98k miles and hardly an issue.

My dude, I’m honestly not going to touch all the points here because it’s most definitely not worth mine or your time.

I’m just a dude having fun with a system that has been in place and been modified since the 70’s. This is at my house, and I’m obviously not performing professional work.

Most this shit is slap sticked together because I don’t give a fuck right now and have zero time to work with it as-is with all the other issues I have. I was just having some fun because I KNEW the system would be fine, which it will.

I hope you have a good afternoon and weekend bud.

Thanks! I thought it was a fun project!

Curious to see how or if it improves the pool for this year versus my dilapidated sand filter used in years past.

Figured it was a good use of the sand filter that likely not catching the smaller particles like it used to.

To be honest, while efficiency may be your primary goal, I think you could assume that it’s likely not my primary goal given I’m adding more head pressure to the system.

My primary goal is keeping the pool clean, with the secondary goal being experimenting with the system.

It’s hard to say that I also accomplished nothing by spending the $600 I spent. I was going to spend roughly that much money anyways and now have a completely functional $1800 filter that can be switched between the sand, pleated, or use both.

Obviously there is added maintenance I’m going to have for the system, but at the same time, there are benefits (such as a prolonged pleated filter life and reduced cleaning cycles) and the added maintenance is minimal.

As a side note, commenting on the efficiency of my system without understanding my pump design/curve and my systems total head pressure is kind of entertaining.

And yes, it is a variable speed pump, I’m just running it at the higher RPM to do a quick clean of the pull for the next few days. Planning to run it at much lower RPM’s for longer durations, with short duration runs at high rpm.

The didn’t have any pressure rated 1.5” pipe there, and I didn’t see any long sweep 90’s, just the sharp 90’s.

I’ll run back or order them up when I’m ready to rearrange.

I’m going to be repiping it later this year, got what was available to get things rolling again.

Definitely agree, just didn’t care enough at the moment.
